Trend Watch: Fair Isle Sweaters

As we start to move from fall into winter, brands and retailers are stocking their racks and shelves with sweaters and heavier knits. It's been a few weeks since my last Trend Watch Tuesday post. So, I thought I would share one that we have seen come and go over the last several years, the fair isle print. Lately I have seen countless fair isle patterns popping up in magazines, stores and on blogs. This design delivers a classic, cozy, fire in the fireplace, hot chocolate and winter wonderland warmth.

Warm Weekend:

Sophisticated Soiree:

I chose to style two J.Crew fair isle sweaters. One is from their factory store (on sale with and additional 30% off) and the other costs a bit more than I would typically post from the retail store. I couldn't resit and fell in love with it the moment I saw it. Sometimes you just have to splurge on something this magical. The detailed jewel accents are a statement all their own.

I must admit that I haven't purchased anything in the fair isle print just yet. It is definitely on my radar and a pattern that I want to add to my closet in the next few weeks. With lots of holiday shopping in my future and colder temps hitting Texas, these sweaters will keep me both warm and stylish. We also have a few holiday parties headed our way. I am hoping to somehow find a way to recreate the sophisticated soiree ensemble.

Wow those sweaters are gorgeous! I think I may put one of those on my Christmas list. I noticed that the jeans are from Target. I am wondering if you know of anyone who has those and how they fit. I just ditched some of my jeans and I am searching for mew ones. I am wondering how these fit - they have good reviews. Thanks! Susan

I love how you styled these!! Great inspiration; I don't quite have a fair isle but I do have a cute Jcrew sweater with a similar pattern around the neck line.

My pinterest board is full of Fair Isle! I just never knew it was called that! I wish I had the money to go and grab up all that I can find, but with this plane ticket for Thanksgiving looming in the very near distance, I just can't :( maybe when I get back I'll spend a little too much of my paycheck on a few pieces!

I love this pattern of sweaters and I am definitely kicking myself for the three I gave to the Salvation Army right out of HS because I thought they were SOOOO last season... KICKING MYSELF!!! :) (for the record I graduated in 1994, so yeah everything I loved is back in style now)

These are a bit different from the fair isle sweaters that I've been seeing. However, I do like the neutral color palette and how it would fit into more outfits. I love the outfit on the right---who would've thought that this type of sweater could work for a party?

Ha, for a second there I forgot what today was until I saw my face....surprise! Second, I know how you feel about your teeth, I got braces 4 years ago (for the second time) and had them on for two years. It was mildly embarrassing to be 30 and have braces, but I am SO happy I did it. You won't regret Invisalign. for YOU (not others!)
