Just Great

denim on denim spring 2015

It has been one of those weeks. The kind where a million things are going on all at once and two handfuls of them are not-so-great...to be frank; handfuls that suck. You get so overwhelmed that all you want to do is stay in your PJs, crawl back into bed, hide under the covers and have a good, long, hard cry.

I don't want to come across as a Debbie Downer because I know things could be much worse...so much worse. Everything swirling around in my bubble will pass and all will be right in my world (hopefully)

I am okay (besides some crazy eye situation, hence my super old school glasses), but a few friends and family members could use some serious prayers for healing, including our new pup (mentioned his story on Instagram). I am carrying a super heavy and worried heart...as so many of us are.

Also, is it terrible of me that I am hoping Karma kicks the person who stole my bank card number yesterday right where it hurts? I know I should forgive and bitterness is the root of all evil...maybe I wouldn't be so angry if they tried to buy some groceries at HEB or make a few payments to a doctor's office, but nope, they headed straight for Burlington Coat Factory.

Oh, come to think of it, I actually could use a few prayers...Logan is turning 10 this weekend and I will be slumbering with her and a handful of her friends Saturday night. I still can't believe I will have a child in the double digits...another reason I needed that good, long, hard cry.

In hindsight of the pesky bumps and other unmentioned hiccups that happened this week, two sweet angels joined our world...both a little early, tiny and thankfully healthy. I have a new nephew (yay) and one of my best friends had her baby (the craziest story EVER). I will have to see if she will let me share that another day. Believe me, it's a good one!

I really should be ashamed to complain when so many of you are going through harder times, but sometimes a little vent session helps. Starting right now, no more bitching because today is going to be a GREAT day, with GREAT news, GREAT friends and an even GREATER family weekend....and a GREAT big glass of "mommy juice" a little later (wink-wink). Have a GREAT weekend!

P.S. I guess I should mention how much I love these high waist flare denim. You may remember me wearing the exact same style in another wash a week or so ago. I love them so much I had to grab two! If you are thinking about snagging a pair for yourself, I would drop down a size.

P.P.S. I shared this late last night on my Facebook page and wanted to spread the news here too. Old Navy has the cutest pom pom beach totes that are similar to the Mar Y Sol one I purchased a few months ago. They are on sale right now and absolutely adorable. Kicking myself for not waiting...wish I would have known they were coming!

Pink Palms

black and white palm print

Now that Spring has finally arrived and warm, sunny days will be more frequent, I have been grabbing for floral/tropical patterns more often than not. If I can't be at the beach or by the water all day, everyday, at least I can wear prints that set the tone for a fun getaway.

This palm printed blouse will definitely be combined with a bright solid pair of shorts in the coming months. For some reason, it's debut called for something a little more feminine and dressy for a day date with my husband.

Random Update:
This week I had my Invisalign buttons removed from my teeth. It's been over a year since I started the process. Even though I was SUPER skeptical at first, I have been extremely pleased with the results. If you have been reading for more than a year, you may remember what my smile used to look like. It wasn't horrible, but it gave me slight self confidence issues. Unfortunately, I am not 100% content with the final outcome, so I am going to begin another round of trays for a little tweaking. Luckily, when you sign up for Invisalign, two additional rounds of impressions and trays are included in the price. If you are considering having orthodontic work done, I highly recommend going in for an Invisalign consultation. It's been a convenient way for me to correct my teeth without having actual braces. I am truly amazed to see the transition of my teeth over the last twelve months. I seem to be smiling a little bit bigger these days. :)

Vested Interest

During the colder months I love to layer, especially topping outfits off with a vest. I have a few faux fur styles, plenty of puffers and a utility version that has gotten more wear than almost any piece in my closet. However, I was lacking a structured longline vest for more polished and sophisticated looks. I came across this one a few weeks ago and decided that it was time I add another vest to my wardrobe rotation.

Layering comes to somewhat of a halt after the month of May, but I loved the silhouette and blush hue of this collar vest. Since it is sleeveless, I am hoping it can be remixed during warmer days of Spring and Summer, possibly over a maxi dress or with cut-off shorts for a casual weekend vibe.

Travel Companion

Old navy Stripe Jersey Shift Dress
This week has been a whirlwind of Texas road trips with my girls. Unfortunately, Ross couldn't get away from work until the last part of spring break, so it's been me and my little amigos on the go-go-go. It's been super fun getting to have one-on-one girl time with my daughters, but a bit exhausting. We are spending our last day at the coast and headed home tomorrow. I need my bed, pillows and pups.

When I am traveling, I am either in flip flops or converse...both are comfy and easy to slip on and off in the car. I wore this outfit on Sunday when we headed to Alvin to see my parents. This Old Navy jersey shift dress is sold out, but they still have a super similar one in stock. It is so comfortable, doesn't wrinkle and a great travel companion. I own a few of these cotton shift dresses from Old Navy. They tend to bring them back in different colors and prints every spring and summer and I highly recommend adding one to your closet, if you haven't already. They are the perfect layering base and just as fab when worn alone.

Have a great weekend!! Thanks for hanging in there with me this week and my horrible attempt to keep up with emails, commenting on your blogs and responding to social media. I must admit, it's been quite refreshing to take a break and not constantly on my phone. I suggest giving it a try sometime! :)

Floral Blooms

floral longlione coat
I typically don't add new coats or jackets to my closet once March hits because of our warmer weather in Texas. I made an exception as soon as I saw this floral print longline coat. I took a little bit of a risk when ordering, wondering if it would be too heavy for the spring weather. I could not be happier with my decision. The print is just as gorgeous and vibrant in person and the fabric is light enough to get plenty of wear during the spring season.

I layered it over a simple white dress this go around, but I also plan to add it with a pair of flare denim, simple v-neck tee and wedges for a more casual look.

You may have noticed that I have recently posted several pieces from SheInside. I have gotten a few questions/emails about the quality due to their price point and that the majority of the items come from China. Please know that I only post and share retailers' clothes that I truly like and believe you would enjoy as well. We all will have different tastes, style preference and places where we enjoy shopping at. Some of the places I enjoy may not fit your expectations. I have purchased hundreds of items online throughout my adult life and sometimes things I order don't turn out as I envisioned. This applies to all the retailers/brands where I have chosen to spend my money, regardless of the price, brand, fabric and make.

At the end of the day, I want all of my friends and readers to know that they can trust my word. When I say I like something and you see it styled on my blog, be assured that what I am saying is an honest and truthful opinion.

P.S. I apologize for being MIA with commenting, answering questions and social media. I am trying to enjoy spring break with my girls and spend less time on my computer and phone this week. I promise to get back with everyone soon. Thanks for understanding!! xoxo

Easy Breezy

are denim jackets still in style

If there one style that I love more than anything, it's a comfortable weekend one. It's even better when it involves pants that literally feel like pajamas, open toed sandals, a worn in t-shirt and a new necklace that packs a fun punch. Even though this outfit is super simple and basic, it is now a new favorite because of it's easy-breezy comfort and the reminder it brings of more warm weekends ahead.

These exact pants are sold out, but I found almost identical ones. Lucky for you, now there are five colors to choose from. They only had black when I first got mine. I plan on adding one if not two more colors to my shopping cart. They are perfect for casual spring and summer weather and could be worn with a swimsuit for added coverage.

I also wanted to mention a fun online shop that I recently came across. It's called Swell Caroline. They have the CUTEST jewelry and accessories at amazing prices. If you are like me and mildly obsessed with tassels this season, they have several necklaces that you have to take a peek at! The one I am wearing today is from Swell Caroline and comes in a red/pink as well.

We are on Spring Break this week and off to see the new Cinderella movie today. I am just as excited as my girls. I mean, have you guys seen Prince Charming in the previews? Ha! We are headed to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo tomorrow and then making our way to the beach a little later in the week. Wish us luck...the weather doesn't look like it is going to be very pleasant in the next few days. I guarantee you, next week, when the kids are back in school it will be sunny and 75 every single day. Never fails.
