Labor Day Wish List

There are a few times a year when I shop...I mean REALLY shop...like hide bags in the trunk and hope Ross doesn't see our online banking statement kind of shopping.

The deals over Labor Day weekend aren't necessarily any better than Memorial Day, President's Day, Black Friday or the day after Christmas sales, but for some reason I always seem to do most of my fall/winter shopping during this weekend. I try to stock up on basic pieces that can be remixed during the months of October through February.

There are a few new styles that I have my eyes on, a handful of trends that I am still loving from last year and a few pieces that I want more of for the upcoming seasons.

Labor Day 2014 Sales and Wish List

I am happy to see that buffalo check/plaid is back again. I picked up a few pieces last year and am loving this dress from the Gap, this one from Old Navy and the black and white version of this scarf.

I love the relaxed feel of distressed boyfriend jeans. I have the best luck buying my denim at Old Navy and Gap. I featured this pair from the Gap above, but also really like the wash of this pair too.

Because I have gotten so much wear our of my utility cargo vest from Old Navy, I plan on grabbing the jacket version this year as well. It's a versatile piece that can be layered over just about anything.

Last year I took the plunge and purchased a few faux leather pieces. I wore all of them more than I expected and look forward to making a few more purchases with leather detailing like this skirt and sweater from J.Crew Factory.

Most retailers started their Labor Day sales yesterday, but they all will through Monday.

If you are planning to do a little shopping during the three day weekend, here are a few of my favorite stores that are celebrating the holiday with super sales and prices that you won't want to pass up.

OLD NAVY - Up to 40% off the entire store and online.

EXPRESS - Everything is 40% off.

TopShop Tunic Dress from Nordstrom

Hands down. No questions asked, this TopShop tunic dress from Nordstrom has been my BFF over the last few weeks. I mentioned last month how I found it on a whim when I was returning something for Ross. Who would have thought that it would become such a staple in my closet? No joke. I have worn it at least five times, if not more. It's been so good that I invited it to see the sites and sounds of California.

The temps are still over 100 degrees here in the Austin area, but I must admit that a teeny-tiny part of me is sloooooowly craving cooler temps and wanting to kinda sorta add splashes of Fall into my wardrobe.

Layering with long sleeves is not in my near future, but adding sleeveless ones aren't so far fetched. My utility military vest came to the rescue again. And to think I almost added it to my Poshmark closet. What was wrong with me?!? It has been a champ for more than a year, always amps up an outfit and brings a special look to simple styles.

Fab news for you, this TopShop tunic dress is now 50% OFF!!! Yep, it could be yours for half the price that I originally paid. It kind of makes me sad (mad), but at the same time I am 100% okay with paying the full price tag because this one definitely exceeded it's cost per wear.

Don't be surprised if you don't see it again real soon. It's been that good to me.

L.Mae Boutique $150 Giveaway

Today I have teamed up with L.Mae Boutique and five gorgeous style bloggers to bring you guys the chance to win a $150 store credit.

I discovered L.Mae Boutique a few months back and was excited to find another place to shop for affordable, on trend and quality made pieces that are unique. They carry limited quantities of each item which means you can be confident in knowing you won't be wearing the same piece as everyone else.

I pinned this floral midi skirt from another website and was stunned when I found the same brand offered at L.Mae Boutique for a lower price point. Score! This one is great for ending the summer months, but will be a fun addition to my fall wardrobe as well.

Don't forget to stop by these other bloggers' sites for more style inspiration. Good luck and happy shopping!

Mod Moment

Whaddya know? I was feeling a little "mod" this week.  I wore this ensemble to a dinner date with a friend on Wednesday. I saw this tunic from Anthropologie several weeks ago and kept coming back to every time I perused their online sale section. I knew I wanted it, loved the style and the price was right, but was a little unsure on how to style it. Then a light went off....LEGGINGS!! I can wear my stretchy, forgiving, comfy black leggings with it. BINGO!! Purchase immediately made! This will be a good one for a few of my solid blazers in the fall too...in about two months. Maybe sooner...fingers crossed.

In other news, I teamed up with The Jeweler's Wife & Gigi New York to giveaway the Kendra Scott earrings and clutch I am featuring today.

The Jeweler's Wife also offers $10 off your $30 purchase by using JW1030 at checkout and FREE shipping. Happy shopping!

Enjoy the weekend. I know we plan on making the most of it. School starts on Tuesday! How did this happen? Wasn't it June 1st like last week?

Carefree Days

ChicWish Embroidered Boho Top

Lately have been gravitating toward more boho inspired styles, prints and designs. Maybe it's because of the current season and my free-spirited way of life during the summer months. One of my go-to boutiques for boho pieces with lace and embroidered detailing is ChicWish. The proof is in the pudding here, here, here...and again today with this breezy top

Unfortunately, those carefree days of no schedules and marching to the beat of our own drum are coming to a close. We are headed back to school next week and back to early morning routines. Part of me is heartbroken, the other half is ready to get back into the swing of things, but NONE of me is ready for fall, pumpkin anything or even remotely getting into the "holiday spirit".

I am a lover of Summer and savoring every single last bit of it. I have one more month to bask in it's glow and then I'll talk spiced lattes, caramel apples, sweaters, scarves and football....and maybe just maybe start my Christmas shopping. Not holding my breath on the latter.

LONG LIVE SUMMER! Anyone else with me?

Loving Them Was Red...

I am not sure if red skinny jeans are still a "thing" in the world of fashion trends. I know they were leading the popular pack a few years back, about the time when I actually bought the ones I am wearing today. It seems distressed/destroyed denim are currently the crowd pleaser and getting the most applause as of late. Two of my favorite pair of jeans are actually the ones that are worn in with a few holes on the knees, but sometimes it's fun to go bold. Adding my beloved chambray top, Converse sneakers and some pops of print kept this style comfortable and current.

So, what do you ladies think? Am I behind the curve? Should I throw in the towel on red skinny jeans? Are they a fad of the past? Okay, don't answer that because I just can't seem to let go of these pants and think they still deserve some love and attention.

P.S. Does this post title make you want sing a certain song?
