Short & Simple - Pinterest Style

So, I am feeling a tad bit sluggish today after my monthly girls' night out. Forgive me for the quick and to the point post. Plus, I am on my way to San Antonio for a style sesh. Ya know, shopping someone's amazing closet and playing dress up.

Anyway, I saw this outfit on Pinterest a few weeks ago and fell head over heels. 1. Because it entailed a scarf. 2. It showcased a hint of leopard.

I can totally do this. I have all the equipment to make this baby work.

Yes, the girl in the original pin is HAWT, model like...Gisele style. Me, I am a mom of two and had to work with what the good Lord gave me.

I think it turned out okay. I am still yearning for the boots she is wearing, but my Payless wedges had to do.

GET THE LOOK HERE:
Top: Lauren Conrad (option) | Pants: Nordstrom Rack (option) | Scarf: Macy's (option) | Shoes: Payless (option) | Bag: Forever 21 (option) | Glasses: Forever 21 (exact)

There ya go, Pinterest strikes yet again.

Have you recreated any styles from your boards? It's kinda fun, right? Like one ginormous dress up party?

See ya kids tomorrow. Hopefully. This week has been rough with blogging. I just can't seem to get it together. Do you ever have those weeks?

Random Wednesday #18

Blazer: Forever 21 (option) (option) | Top: ModCloth (exact) (option) | Pants: Old Navy (exact) (option) | Shoes: Forever 21 (option) (option) | Bag: Target (exact) | Belt: Target (option) (option) | Bracelets: Gallery Boutique & Stella & Dot

It's that time again, Random Wednesday and I have lots to chat about today. Surprise. Surprise!

Even though it's Random Wednesday, I feel compelled to talk a little bit about this outfit. It seems a little silly posting #ootd pictures and not even mentioning anything about it. So, I got these pants for $8.99 at Old Navy. Crazy deal, right? They aren't marked that online, so check your local store. I got the chevron top from ModCloth. Their stuff is a little "iffy", but this one was a grand slam. I love it, how it's made, the material and of course the print. They just sold out of it, but the magical thing about ModCloth is that you can enter your email and when/if it comes back in stock, they will inbox ya.

Moving along, the acts for Lone Star Jam have been announced. What's Lone Star Jam? Well, it's a two day musical festival loaded with some of my favorite Texas Music artists. I plan to be there front and center. I mean, Stoney Larue, Roger Creager, Cory Morrow, Bob Schneider and the list goes on will be playing. I cannot wait. I am like a kid waiting for Christmas. If you are in the area, tickets go on sale this Friday! They still have three more headliners to announce and hoping Pat Green is one of them!

I will be heading to San Antonio tomorrow for another styling appointment. Yay! I am sure I will be instagramming and posting the outcome. This is the first time I am taking my show on the road, so it actually feels more real now. I also have two ladies that I am helping virtually. If you need a personal stylist or are looking to shop your own closet, please keep me in mind. I can help both local clients and out of town gals. Just click on the little "hire me" link at top right corner of my blog.
So, update on my braces situation. I was supposed to go yesterday to have impressions made, but it was Logan's award ceremony at school. My appointment and the awards were at the same time and obviously I chose my kid over my teefies. But, here is the deal. I have had a few blogger friends tell me that there is a waaaaaaay cheaper version of Invisalign that dentists offer. Like thousands of dollars cheaper. Of course that sparked my interest to do a little research. I am going to call around and see what I can find. Anyone else out there know what I am talking about? If so, I would love for ya to feel me in.

A few months back, I saw in People Style Watch that Essie was coming out with a new line of magnetic polishes. Well, they've finally arrived in stores. It's called Repstyle. Bascially you paint your nails, take the magnetic strip on top of the bottle and hover it over your finger. It is supposed to create a reptile design on your nail. Here's the kicker. It's $12.00! Yikes. A little too steep for my blood. If you ladies tell me you have tried and like love it, I just may take the plunge and purchase. I am easily influenced. Plus, the colors are really fun.

Lastly, can we talk about the newest social media launch, Vine? Oh.my.gawd. Really, this takes the cake. Six second videos. It's like Instagram on crack. I think half the people I follow on IG joined. Everyone was posting their new accounts. I felt left out, so of course I set up my own Vine profile (@Shanna Said So). I told you I was easily influenced. I have made three videos. It was kinda fun, but super awkward. I could not stop laughing at the ones other people were posting. Then, I tried hopping on yesterday, and I not only saw videos from the people I follow, but the "editor's picks" as well. Boo! I don't like this. I ONLY want to see videos of the people I know. I couldn't give a rats you-know-what about all the other random ones. I think I will use it once in a blue moon, and prefer Instagram over this app. Have you hopped on the bandwagon? Whaddya think? Yea? Or Nay? I think we are overwhelmed enough with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc...one more addicting app and my head just might explode. I do, however, think this is genius for both small and large businesses.

So what kind of random do you have going on today? Link up and let us know!

Flying Solo

Yep, I flew by my lonesome and had the house to myself for the first time in I can't even remember. Ross took the girls to Sausage Fest 2013. What is that? Well, it's a weekend where the guys take all the meat from the deer killed during hunting season and make boudin and sausage. As tempted as I was to go, I decided that I would skip out on the testosterone activities. Do ya blame me? I didn't think so.

So, what does one do with all this free time and solitude? I will tell ya.

I went straight to Target and snatched up this tassel satchel. I saw it on Instagram from @targetdoesitagain and knew I had to make it mine. If you don't follow these two girls, please do so immediately. They post stuff that they find at Target and it will change your life forever.

Then I strolled over to Old Navy and got more excited than one should over a black and white gingham top. Finally! I have been looking for one forever. The shirt I wanted at J.Crew was sold out and so happy it was. I ended up getting this top for a much better price tag.

Next, I popped into get my nails and toes did and died after I secretly snapped a picture of the nail lady making funny faces. This is NOT the only picture of said nail lady saved on my phone. She was on a roll. And yes, those are scrubs she is wearing. See her friend in the back? Yep, she's got them on too.

Flying solo gave me some time to clean out my closet. It is madness in my guest bedroom. I plan on selling this stuff in the next week or so. If you live in the Austin area and are interested, lemme know.

Saturday I headed to S. Congress Ave. to meet up with a few bloggers for a blate. We met at Doc's Bar and Grill and I immediately order a Bloody Mary. Holy delicious.

I was happy to finally meet Kristen. She is not only a style blogger, but she is a mom too. We have a lot in common and she is just as sweet and gorgeous in person. I am a bad, bad blogger and didn't get any other pictures from the meet up. There were about 12-13 of us and it was really fun getting to know the girls. Thanks, Jenn, for putting this together. Looking forward to the next one.

It was my neighbor's birthday Saturday night. Man, do my hood peeps know how to throw a shin-dig. I am still laughing about all that went down. It was a memorable night to say the least. It's a wonderful thing to be able to walk home from a party and just crawl right into bed.

And then came Sunday. A day of rest. I slept in and prepared myself for reality to head home. Although it was glorious to have a few days to myself, I missed my "reality" dearly and glad that the noise and ruckus are back.

So, what were you guys up to this weekend? According to Instagram, there were blogging blates all over Texas this weekend. Seeing all the pictures made me smile that this crazy little world can bring so many people together in real life.

Happy week, friends!

I'm Free

Top: Forever 21 (exact) | Denim: Express (option)(option) | Shoes: Target (exact)
Belt: Target (option)(option)| Necklace: Forever 21 (exact) (option)| Clutch: Gift (option) (option)

Oh man, you guys, I started to get some serious cabin fever this week.

As you know, both of my girls had the flu, then I started coming down with something. It was a train wreck in my house; the flu, chills, coughing, sneezing, drenching night sweats and one ginormous zit on my face. Rough days, I tell ya. Rough days.

They only times I made it out was to the doctor (three times), to pick up prescriptions and then a quick run Chick-fil-A. I thought I was going to lose my mind.

My personality can't handle being cooped up in a house when it's been absolutely gorgeous out. I hate to be Brenda the Bragger, but we almost hit 80 degrees yesterday. Sorry for all you snow bunnies up north. I feel for you guys. I feel cold, frigid and frozen when I think about your temps.

Anyway, the girls and I finally started to feel better yesterday afternoon. So, as soon as Ross got home, we were dressed and ready to hit the big city of Round Rock. It's like we had been held captive for months. I was so ready to face the glorious sun and it's warmth. Momma even slipped on the heels and leopard. Were we going anywhere fancy? Nope. Just to the local ice house across town, but I didn't care. I felt the need to get dressed, put on some glossy gloss and twirl my locks with the magic wand. I am telling you people, I needed to join the living again.

I am free! We are free! The flu and whatever other nasty germs that slithered their way into our home have been exorcised away. Good riddance.

Hello world! Have you missed us?
