Houston, we have a problem. Okay, maybe it's technically not a problem, but I just realized this is my sixth post in less than than two weeks that I have either worn or chatted about neutral colors. Where did Shanna go? For those of you that have been reading for a longer length of time know I like color....red, orange, blue, green, yellow, pink...all of the rainbow. Why all of the sudden have I gravitated toward a basic palette of black and browns? Am I playing it safe? Have I lost my luster? Am I becoming Drab Deb?

Maybe I am being dramatic here. I honestly think it boils down to my new rule of remixing for the fall. I am no longer purchasing pieces that have a summer ring to them. I am fully focused on adding items for the upcoming season which mostly consist of neutral colors. I am by no means saying that I am ready for summer to be over, but subconsciously I guess I am over it.

Isn't it crazy how our minds shift so quickly just by what we see and read? Everywhere we turn, all things fall are in our faces. Things I pinned on Pinterest this time last year are resurfacing again. People are repinning what was posted last November and style inspirations from 2012 are popping back up in my feed. I think we all have the same thing on our brains; a new season is upon us.

With every new season comes change. It's human nature and doesn't just entail fashion. Our taste buds crave different foods. We long for different aromas (insert pumpkin spice). Our sights are set on bonfires, football and the upcoming holidays. Think about it. How has your brain reprogrammed in a few short weeks? It's mind blowing how we change our way of thinking once September rolls around. There is just something special about the ninth month of the year. I guess it's kind of like April when we shift back to bright colors, flowers and neon pink nail polish.

Is is just me or has your brain done a 180 degree turn in the last few days too?

P.S. If you have few seconds please vote for me in the Nordstrom YOUphoria Fashion Face-Off challenge going on now. If you live in the Houston area, mark your calendars to be at the Nordstrom Houston Galleria on September 12th at 6:30 PM for a fashion event I am co-hosting. I would love to meet you!

Neutrals are great all year long! I love the subtle pattern mixing with the shoes and purse. I agree, things that I pinned last year are popping back up again. I guess it's a good thing that I can work with what I have in my closet :)

I love this outfit, the jacket and shoes are adorable. I love neutrals as a staple in my wardrobe. Although winters are so long here I'm usually dying for some colour by Christmas!

It's definitely not just you. I worked so hard this spring and summer to buy anything but beige white and black and that's all i want to grab lately. Which is so classically chic, yet somehow I'm lacking in my closet. queue the shopping list!

Love that white dress, it's gorge.

I think the change of season affects us more than we realise and blogging, because it brings things in our minds to the surface, leaves a lasting viewable and time-sequential trace which enables us to see patterns. It is interesting. But just like your 'rebel' white after Labour Day outfit today, doesn't mean just because it is coming on winter over there, that you can't bring colour to your grey skies! Thanks for hosting!

I wear neutrals a lot Shanna - especially during the colder months. I love that you added some fun shoes to the look. I just bought the leopard pumps from Target and I am so excited to wear them! And you have the best collection of clutches!! Happy day to you! Susan

Shanna, I don't think you look drab at all- more like fabulous! We 'do' change things up as the seasons transition. :)
Speaking of which, I just enjoyed a pumpkin spice latte this morning! Yep, fall is coming.

Ohh I love this outfit!! I love that you are transitioning a white dress for fall, and it looks great with the tan and leopard. That jacket is fabulous. Even though it is going to stay ridiculously warm for at least another month, I am starting to feel a little fall-ish. Maybe because it is now September, or maybe because Labor Day is over... I don't know, but I am looking forward to it!
