Random Wednesday #18

Blazer: Forever 21 (option) (option) | Top: ModCloth (exact) (option) | Pants: Old Navy (exact) (option) | Shoes: Forever 21 (option) (option) | Bag: Target (exact) | Belt: Target (option) (option) | Bracelets: Gallery Boutique & Stella & Dot

It's that time again, Random Wednesday and I have lots to chat about today. Surprise. Surprise!

Even though it's Random Wednesday, I feel compelled to talk a little bit about this outfit. It seems a little silly posting #ootd pictures and not even mentioning anything about it. So, I got these pants for $8.99 at Old Navy. Crazy deal, right? They aren't marked that online, so check your local store. I got the chevron top from ModCloth. Their stuff is a little "iffy", but this one was a grand slam. I love it, how it's made, the material and of course the print. They just sold out of it, but the magical thing about ModCloth is that you can enter your email and when/if it comes back in stock, they will inbox ya.

Moving along, the acts for Lone Star Jam have been announced. What's Lone Star Jam? Well, it's a two day musical festival loaded with some of my favorite Texas Music artists. I plan to be there front and center. I mean, Stoney Larue, Roger Creager, Cory Morrow, Bob Schneider and the list goes on will be playing. I cannot wait. I am like a kid waiting for Christmas. If you are in the area, tickets go on sale this Friday! They still have three more headliners to announce and hoping Pat Green is one of them!

I will be heading to San Antonio tomorrow for another styling appointment. Yay! I am sure I will be instagramming and posting the outcome. This is the first time I am taking my show on the road, so it actually feels more real now. I also have two ladies that I am helping virtually. If you need a personal stylist or are looking to shop your own closet, please keep me in mind. I can help both local clients and out of town gals. Just click on the little "hire me" link at top right corner of my blog.
So, update on my braces situation. I was supposed to go yesterday to have impressions made, but it was Logan's award ceremony at school. My appointment and the awards were at the same time and obviously I chose my kid over my teefies. But, here is the deal. I have had a few blogger friends tell me that there is a waaaaaaay cheaper version of Invisalign that dentists offer. Like thousands of dollars cheaper. Of course that sparked my interest to do a little research. I am going to call around and see what I can find. Anyone else out there know what I am talking about? If so, I would love for ya to feel me in.

A few months back, I saw in People Style Watch that Essie was coming out with a new line of magnetic polishes. Well, they've finally arrived in stores. It's called Repstyle. Bascially you paint your nails, take the magnetic strip on top of the bottle and hover it over your finger. It is supposed to create a reptile design on your nail. Here's the kicker. It's $12.00! Yikes. A little too steep for my blood. If you ladies tell me you have tried and like love it, I just may take the plunge and purchase. I am easily influenced. Plus, the colors are really fun.

Lastly, can we talk about the newest social media launch, Vine? Oh.my.gawd. Really, this takes the cake. Six second videos. It's like Instagram on crack. I think half the people I follow on IG joined. Everyone was posting their new accounts. I felt left out, so of course I set up my own Vine profile (@Shanna Said So). I told you I was easily influenced. I have made three videos. It was kinda fun, but super awkward. I could not stop laughing at the ones other people were posting. Then, I tried hopping on yesterday, and I not only saw videos from the people I follow, but the "editor's picks" as well. Boo! I don't like this. I ONLY want to see videos of the people I know. I couldn't give a rats you-know-what about all the other random ones. I think I will use it once in a blue moon, and prefer Instagram over this app. Have you hopped on the bandwagon? Whaddya think? Yea? Or Nay? I think we are overwhelmed enough with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc...one more addicting app and my head just might explode. I do, however, think this is genius for both small and large businesses.

So what kind of random do you have going on today? Link up and let us know!

**If you are linking up today, please use good manners. I kindly ask that you follow my blog and link back to it in your post. It's called blogging etiquette.

I love that top! I almost wore my green pants today but never know how to style them. I just always feel silly. And speaking of styling - god luck with the appointment! It's going to be a home run I know!

I have the Salley Hansen magnetic nail polish. The cool design it makes is awesome BUT that brand chipped right away. Like within minutes.

Annnd Vine. I posted a video for the linkup lol. It annoyed me that it was all over IG but it's kinda fun.

ohh i think this is one of my fave outfits on you! love the top especially!
i haven't joined vine... i just really don't think i'd ever use it.. watching videos of people that kinda freaks me out.. like i'm stalking or something.. which is weird bc i'm a social media freak. anyway, i may jump on the bandwagon if i hear good things about it.
sooo jealous about lone star jam! i miss texas country, texas music festivals, and texas in general!!
and yayyy for you and your styling! so proud of you girl! xx

And waay too much social media for me..no vine app..I hate videos of myself, but it would probably be good for the cats except my cats take longer than 6 sec.s to do soemthing truly funny hahah Happy Hump Day and good luck with your styling appointment..not that you need it ;)

So cute! Love your mixed patterns & pop of green!

You are a pattern mixing queen, I love it! The outfit is great, and what a steal on those pants!

I think magnetic polishes are fun, but you don't need to spend $12 on them. There are cheaper versions out there. But it kinda looks like the patterns for Essie are cool, so maybe we can try them if they go on sale?!

So Vine. Seems like all my blogger friends hopped on the bandwagon. Well I heard on the news yesterday that its also being used for 6 second porn videos. hmmm.

I liked up. YAY for my favorite part of Wednesdays!

Ok, first off my #26 entry is a bad link. So you can delete that one if you want. I posted it and then the "pin it" button was showing up everywhere on my post. Isn't that crazy? I literally started sweating and had to redo my entire post. Ahhhhh!!!! So the second one is good...sorry about that!!

I don't know if I'm going to get into Vine. I've been seeing it and think it's a great idea...but there's just so many things to keep up with, ya know?!

Every week, I think...now THAT'S my favorite outfit of hers!! And I'm thinking it this week as well!

Fun with mixing prints! I tried this look...wish it showed better in my pics, but it was uber fun in RL! Love the top and blazer and the studded bracelet. oh and hello leopard belt! ha there's the surprise element!! P.S. it never hurts to compare rates/get 2nd opinion. City's have averages so your cost may just be avg for your city, ours is 2500 for limited (fyi)! keep smiling!!!

LOOOOOOVE this outfit! So much!!!

Now, about this Vine crap. In my opinion, it's so dumb. To reinforce that though I've seen a bunch of bloggers videos on twitter and I don't care to see anyone walking home from work in ridiculous uggs, grabbing your keys to leave home or here's my feet dancing on the floor! Ugh. I have enough social media/blog stuff to juggle I don't need another app that I'm not interested in.

[end rant]

Sorry that was long! lol I'm linking up with you today :)

I love your outfit, you are so good at mixing patterns and colours and making them work! No wonder your styling work is taking off. I am linking up, thanks for hosting. Also I have had invisalign (finished my treatment a year ago) whoa what is this a British person looking after their teeth?!?! LOL. It cost me £3,400 (I think that equates to about $5,500) yes it was a lot but it included my whitening and I got the full package which meant any refinements I needed were included and trust me you will need refinements, everyone does no matter what they say. My boyfriend had it after seeing how mine were progressing 6 months in and he needed 4 refinements, I needed 5!! We both now have perfectly straight and white teeth. Our dentist must see us as a walking pay cheque we have spent around £9,000 between us in that dentists over the last 3 years (and we aint rich let me tell you) I have felt so uncomfortable about my teeth for so long i decided to save as hard as I could and went for it. But if it is something that has bugged you for a while and you feel like you want it done perfectly I wouldn't go for the express treatment (which I assume is the cheaper treatment people are referring you to) as that can end up costing more as you need to pay for refinements. If you wanna ask me any questions about it just send me an email (email address on my blog :) ) good luck with it though, it was one of the best things I ever did/spent my money on!!

Ohmygosh... vine. I have been waiting for something like this for so long! SocialCam just doesn't do it for me!

And I so wish I lived in your area so I could take you shopping with me! How on earth do you find pants for under $10?!

Always Maylee said...

So many things to talk about today!

1. You look beautiful in this outfit, love the print mixing! I need to get myself to ON and check out the pants!

2. I don't know if I can bring myself to pay $12 for nail polish. I can hardly bring myself to spend $8! Unless you tell me that it will be worth every penny, I might pass on this one!

3. I joined Vine as well, because I felt the peer pressure. However, I have yet to make a video because I have no idea what I'm supposed to be making videos of that people would be interested in, haha! So I'm sort of lukewarm on this.

Have fun styling tomorrow, you are totally just rocking this new adventure of yours! :)

I don't do reptile things. It weirds me out. I do not own a single item in a snake print not will I ever because they ate scary. Vine well I found it hilarious that within a five minute span I saw two big bloggers sighed up and basically the description of one is almost an exact replica of the others. Turn off. But I might get on the band wagon just to have a few laughs.

Love that chevron print top! And that jacket paired with it, perfect! So I had a dream about you last night, in a non-stalkerish way of course. You were just one of the mom's in my mom group, totally random. You were wearing a great outfit, of course! Also I bought some magnetic nail polish from Target, I can't remember what brand it was, but it was only $6! And it gave me some great nails...but it made a swirly, Van Gogh Stary night type design.

First of all, this outfit is SO Darn cute! I would literally go out and buy all of these pieces and recreate it! That ModCloth top is adorable!

And ohhhh Vine... yes I hopped on the bandwagon. I saw a few people on Instagram post something and I asked my friend, what is this? He is really involved in social media and told me about it, I was instantly addicted because I LOVE VIDEOGRAPHY! Maybe it is because I work very closely with our videographer at work and I think it so cool how we capture our products in a new light through this use and I'm also a YouTube addict.

Anyway, I don't think the app is for everyone, but I see the creative potential and have seen some amazing videos so far and some really weird videos as well.

I think it will get better as more people get used to it and of course it is one more outlet, but it is how things go, you know? In high school I was on MySpace, and haven't touched it in years (I might still be on there LOL). My 12-year-old cousin has Instagram and could care less about Facebook, she thinks its silly. It just shows how things change over time, I think Facebook will still be around and I'll use it forever, but there is a reason Facebook bought Instagram.

So anyway, we shall see about Vine. So far I'm liking it. I DO NOT LIKE PEOPLE WHO POST VIDEOS WHILE DRIVING THOUGH. Why? It gives me a mini heart attack!

.:Heather:. said...

I JUST saw those pants at Old Navy yesterday but passed on them...now you are making me want to go back & get them! :)

Wanted to weigh in on your braces situation. I got braces a 13 months ago & I really wanted Invisalign. I really.really.really. wanted Invisalign. But, the problem is, my husband is in the dental industry & knows a lot about it & very much recommends against it. Basically, for teeth like mine were {and I can't speak to yours..} they would have taken a long time to move & it may have not been "permanent". Regular, old school braces, have the wire that allow an ortho to put just the right amount of adjusting to really perfect your tooth position. Many dentists who offer Invisalign haven't been trained in orthodontics...just Invisalign itself so they may not be as educated on root absorption & other potential orthodontia issues. Plus, Invisalign is really expensive. We opted for clear ceramic brackets on top & regular metal on the bottom. To be honest, they aren't that noticeable. And, despite some seriously crooked teeth, I'm getting my braces off tomorrow, after just 13 1/2 months! Truly, I would recommend you consider the clear brackets on top.

Anyway, good luck with your decision & keep the super cute outfits coming! I am loving getting inspiration from your looks!

.:Heather:. said...

One more thing...as a busy mom it was hard for me to prioritize getting my braces "tightened" once a month...I don't think I ever could have made it to get new Invisalign trays every other week. :)

Oh & I have braces in my profile pic...barely noticeable, right?
