Random Wednesday #15

Blazer: Forever 21 (option) (option) | Vest: Old Navy (option) (option) | Top: (option) (option) | Shoes: Target (option) | Jeans: Express (option) | Scarf: Kiki La'Rue

First of all, thank you, thank you, thank you for all the love and support from yesterday's post! I am ready to see where I land with this leap.

Now, I've got some all over the place random for you today. Ready?

I am in LOVE with my scarf from Kiki La'Rue. I mean, so much in love that I slept with it around my neck. Okay, not really, but once I ripped it open, it didn't leave my neck until bed time. It's a fashionable Snuggie for your neck. You guys, get one. Becka is my Texas bud and is the BEST! She has lots of colors, plus some other AH-mazing pieces. The color I am wearing is sold out right now, but she said that more are coming soon. Be patient!

So, Ashlyn, my little sis in blog land, sent me a monogrammed Tervis for Christmas. I love it. It's perfect for rum and diets on game day, but there is one problem. Every time I take a drink out of the little hole, it runs down my chin. What in the heck am I doing wrong? Is there some secret trick for drinking out of these bad boys?

image

I have mentioned before that I hate my teeth. Not only do I have vampire teeth, but I have crooked vampire teeth. I hate them. Besides getting big momma zits, this is the biggest self confidence killer that I have about myself. Well, I finally made an appointment with an orthodontist. It's tomorrow. I am on my hands and knees praying that Invisalign will do the trick, but I have a nasty feeling that I am going to need full fledged braces. I am to the point where I just don't care. For the love of all that is holy, I want straight vampire teeth.

image

And, I thought I would pass on a little advice to all you bloggers out there. I have seen so many people say they have deleted their Facebook page and think that nobody really uses it anymore. Well, I hope you guys change your minds. Having a Facebook page for my blog is one of my biggest traffic generators. Take a look at my stats. It's the 5th top referring site to my blog and stays at the top on a consistent basis. You may want to reconsider if you don't already have a Facebook page for your blog. Just sayin'.

And the last random of the day, why do you unfollow blogs? Really? What makes you want to go through all the blogs you follow and unfollow someone with GFC? It's such a timely process, so if you unfollow a blog it must mean you REALLY don't like them. And this, my friends makes me sad because I had more than a dozen unfollows over the last week or so. I hit 1500 followers like three times because of people choosing to delete me. It was like a dagger to my little heart. We all bust our romps on our posts, love seeing new readers and get excited when a new face pops up, but it sure sucks the big one when someone disappears. So, tell me, if you have stopped reading someone's blog, what was the reason? Inquiring minds want to know.

How random and loooooong was this post? I had a lot to chat about today. Hope you stuck around!

Happy Hump Day!

I don't understand the unfollow either. I always take it personally. Congrats on your new gig though, I think you will be amazing!

Leeann @ Join the Gossip said...

I admit, I unfollow. When I first started blogging I'd follow people right away. Then once I started getting to know their blogs I didn't like the content. Instead of being rude and commenting, I just unfollow. But that's not a common thing for me. You obviously aren't offensive (bc you are AWESOME) so I'd say it's just those people who have GFC just for giveaways. Or that want you to follow them and when you do they unfollow. That happens to me. You still have A LOT of followers so you should be happy and not let it bother you :)

In other news - love the outfit! And good luck with the ortho. I had horrible teeth and had braces from elementary - high school!

I honestly have no idea how to unfollow of GFC - it just seems a waste of my time...just skip over the post and don't read.

Just curious - how do you get traffic on your fb page? Mine is collecting dust. I seem to generate traffice through my own personal page where my personal friends use to follow my blog.

BTW - love how you layer your ON vest with the jacket. I bought the same vest and have not used it yet.

Love the blazer/scarf combo... such fun colors! I actually kind of like non-perfect teeth... I think it gives people character. But I completely understand wanting to get have straight teeth too! :)

I love your random Wednesday posts! They are always so insightful :) First of all, love the color combination in your outfit and the fringe on your scarf is fabulous. Regarding your teeth, it's funny that you mentioned an issue when one of the first things I notice from your posts is your amazing smile! I can't imagine someone unfollowing you. Your style and posts are always interesting and you seem so genuine and sweet ...but of course, you are my sister Texas girl :)

Couldn't agree more about the I following!! Cute scarf, love it!! You look GREAT (as always)!

First of all- congrats on getting the business going! That is awesome! Like I said, if I were in Austin I would TOTALLY hit you up!

Also, my husband had braces- full fledged braces- on his top and bottom teeth a couple years ago. Invisalign wouldn't work for some reason (I can't remember now) BUT they were clear plastic braces...looked like invisalign to me. He took them out to eat and everything. Seemed more like a retainer. BUT they were braces. I say this to tell you there are other options for "braces" different from the big metal brackets that were around when we were kids. Just thought you should know.

Tervis- I don't use the lid. I either go for the open cup or the straw. Get the straw- LOVE the straw...but not really for my rum and cokes.

Honestly: it upsets me more than it should when I'm unfollowed on my Blog or Twitter. Seriously. I just don't get it!

Moving on... I had braces for 5 years in high school. 5. Even for my senior prom! I hope Invisalign will work - real braces are not fun. (Well, I had WAY more problems including jaw surgery which I won't get into). Good for you making an appointment! Your smile is still gorg though.

I notice that I get a few unfollows after giveaways are announced. Hmmm. Is that what it is? It really is time consuming to unfollow someone.

Loving this scarf on you, lady!!

I have that exact same scarf, color too, and it is SO SOFT!

Unfollows. I wish I understood! Hopefully someone here can shed some light.

Do they follow long enough for a giveaway, and then quit after they didn't win???

Sheree said...

Hey hun! First off I am loving that scarf..the fringe effect is awesome and is a perfect color to compliment the blazer! I actually feel the opposite about Facebook..I feel more people seem to be following that way..at least for me. Do you advertise your Facebook page?
Also I do unfollow sometimes..only on Bloglovin' cause I have no clue how to do it through GFC. I do it when I realize I am getting no inspiration and have no relationship with the person so why should their posts keep showing up just for me to stroll past it?

Also I am in the Feb. issue of InStyle!!!!!! Go pic it up..:)
and again..good luck to you!

I don't have GFC so can't comment on the unfollows. But on Facebook, I rarely unlike a page unless it's offensive. Hide, yes, but unliking is just plain mean. And I've gotten batches of unlikes before and I think, really? Oh well, you can't be everyone's cup of tea I guess.

Congrats on the braces! I got them as an adult and it changed my life, truly. Love my smile now!

Ready? This may be a long one.
First off, Happy New Year! Just getting back in the swing.
Secondly, I read yesterday's post and am SO excited for you and this new venture. The best kind of work is work you love. I wish you nothing but the best of luck.
And lastly, invisalign. OMG. I actually wrote a sponsored post about for Clever Girls (you can see it on the blog) and this product is amazing. You have one of the best smiles around (you smile with your eyes) and if this will give you more confidence, then I am all for it. SO exciting.
OK, I'm done. Happy Wednesday!

I love this outfit - you are gorgeous, even with you "vampire teeth". Which I never noticed until you said something. I hope your appointment goes well today! And as for your unfollowers - wth!? I don't even know how to unfollow a blog. I'm sorry for your "loss" but they didn't deserve a friend like you anyway ;)

My husband wound up getting braces in his later 20s. I can't lie, I was selfishly annoyed when he told me he was going to get them. However, having them gave him total confidence (and I don't mean AFTER they were off... WHILE they were on!). Basically, he was like, "whatever! this is for me and this is a decision I MADE. If people think otherwise, oh well. I'm just doing something to improve MYSELF". And now his smile literally LIGHTS UP a room!

Good luck, girl!

Sheena Rae said...

I had braces in junior high and I loved them! Mainly because I was tired of getting picked on and being self conscious. It was so worth it! Good luck to you!

Looove this outfit as always! So I just got a Tervis too and they make straws for them! Considering I can't drink ANYTHING without spilling on myself, a straw was a must-have for me! It fits right in that hole. I don't understand the unfollowing thing too, I've noticed it happens more after a giveaway which is sad. I never even consider unfollowing unless something is just really offensive that blogger posts, but I've never actually figured out how to do it. Why bother?!

Have a great day!!

Me and the unfollow doesn't bother me because not everyone is a good fit or maybe at that time I liked a post but as time went on realized they aren't for me and sometimes if it's the same crap over and over I get bored and find new material. For everyone that you lose you will gain 2 more that are loyal. Plus why would you not to secretly shoot someone an imaginary middle finger even though you have no idea who they were.

Sarah said...

Love the scarf and the vest under the blazer! I got a similar scarf for Christmas and it hasn't left my neck often either.

I use the Tervis lid...seems to help, I've had that issue too.

I do NOT get unfollowing. So strange. I do know that I've heard of people say that sometimes google will randomly unfollow people from blogs so I always just tell myself that's what happened ahhaha

Helene said...

So i would only unfollow if they just don't post anymore or if they are offensive - which you never are. it's very rare but I read through google reader so I like to be able to get to almost all the blogs I follow.

that is exciting about invisilign and I hope it works for you! (even though you are beautiful how you are!)

FitTravelerAJ said...

Good luck at the orthodontist! I hope you can do Invisalign as well. But if you can't, they do make clear/white braces that are a little less intrusive than the old school metal ones. Ask about those too.

As far as the unfollow thing, I'll be perfectly honest. A lot of blogs do giveaways where you have to follow someone to enter. So I do, then I check out a few blog posts. If I'm not super into the blog and I find it more of a hassle to read their blog than it is an inspiration, I will unfollow them. I rarely do this because most of the time I like the blog, but if its on my Google Reader I feel obligated to read it. Just my 2 cents, hope its nothing personal!

Looking good as usual! And good luck on your new ventures btw, I think you will be great at it! If I choose to unfollow a blog it would only be because either the content has gotten bad or offensive. I have also done it just to streamline my daily reading, but I do that only reader not on GFC! One thing is certain, I don't think I will be unfollow ing your blog anytime soon!

Jenn @ WLB said...

I'll unfollow people on bloglovin' once in a while. The thing here is that this is where I read all my blogs from and I like to be excited about every blog I have on there. I follow people through GFC sometimes for different contests and stuff-but the real way to know if I read you all the time is if you are in my bloglovin' list. (it's a pretty looongg list)
In other news-I really like that scarf! It's the kind of thing that I would pass right over on the site and my poor little mind would have never known how great it looks on! Glad you posted it.

Tervis cup - use a straw. I found that the straws that come with the $4.99 tumblers you find everywhere work great and most people have at least one of those! No need to splurge on Tervis straws :)

I have always wondered why people stop following! Doesn't make sense to me and is WAYYY to much work to do. If you don't like their blog anymore just don't read it! Curious to hear the verdict on your teeth. I've always hated my teeth too, they're really small! I had braces in high school, but have always wanted veneers - you know those suckers are like $2,000 a tooth! Yowza!!

happy hump day honey! I think you have a gorgeous smile, but I can totally appreciate not being happy about something. My fingers are crossed for you the Invisalgn works!!

I have unfollowed 2 blogs in my life, because of offensive content (to me anyway). Other than that, what the heck! Too much work!! And why? If it's not straight offensive, just don't read it, is my motto.

Hey girl, hey! ;) ha! It's that point in the day where I'm supposed to be up fuctioning, but I'm not.
Loving your outfit! (As usual)
Love Kiki La'Rue! (bought at dress last night...like at 10:50pm) ha!
I think the unfollow comes from people who were only interested in following you because they stumbled upon a giveaway and entered. They never had any intention to add 'you' to their reader...so after the giveaway is over, they go back and delete all those that they never had any intention to add in the first place. So, it's not you. It's definitely them.
But on a side note, girl...just keeping being yourself...you'll keep the readers a-comin' because you are a really genuine blogger. Don't let the number get you down (switch to wordpress and you won't have those daggers to the heart any more...ha!) ;) xoxo

OH gosh, cute outfit, love the color combo. Do you think you can bring yourself and your outfit over my son would love what you're wearing, his current favorite color is orange. I might have to go copy this outfit, although I think you rock it much better! I had invisalign! So did my husband, we LOVED it. I hope that you are able to get them. From the looks of it, seems like you'll be able to get them, keeping my fingers crossed for you. They totally work, but hurt like a you-know-what! And the bonus, since you have to wear them all the time, and brush your teeth when you're done eating, your dentist loves you because you're brushing your teeth every 5 seconds, and I know people who actually lose weight because they're too lazy to take them out to eat, so they just don't eat! Wish that worked on me...haha, I like eating too much!

I actually follow all of my blogs through FB. There are so many and I can't remember to visit each site to look for new posts. I log on to FB everyday and get notifications for the new posts on each blog. It's definitely the easiest way for me.

I recently unfollowed a blog because I seen on twitter that she said in a round about way that "she hated going to a blog and the design being so ugly!" That really urked me. Not everyone in blogland has the extra money to spend on a professional design. After that, I decided I didn't want to support someone like that.

First, I love this outfit! It looks gorgeous, and I pretty much want to come and steal if from your closet! Second, super exciting about Invisalign! One of my best friends did adult braces and was so happy he finally did it. I thought she (and you) looked/look beautiful as is, but sometimes it's nice to be able to do something just for yourself just to make you feel great. You deserve it! As for the I following: honestly I have I followed some people and here's why: 1. A few times people have said or shared things that just didn't jive with me morally and my husband and I had a talk about how much time I spent reading blogs. I was truly trying to read and comment on too many. So, those that never came back to visit my page and those to which it was a truly one sided blogging relationship I quit following. It was never meant to be a dagger to someone's heart, it was a time/priority piece.

Good luck at the ortho!! I understand teeth being a confidence thing. Until I was 14 I had a gap, but my teeth were straight so I didn't need braces (I wanted them so bad!). Then I broke them and had them bonded. The dentist made them wider so it closed my gap....but the break killed the nerves in one of my teeth and I had to have a root canal and now I have a GRAY TOOTH!

As far as unfollowing goes.......I have unfollowed blogs in the past because I only carelessly followed them from hops and link-ups "requiring" you to follow a certain number to participate. After a few more reads, I realized they were not my style. That is careless on my part and I should be more diligent about which blogs I choose to follow when participating.

I generally follow blogs for a while on my google reader before I decide to follow them on Google Connect because I realize it is an emotional thing for a lot of people.

I have unfollowed blogs in the past because I have never gotten a response to a comment or question...and I've been commenting on almost every post for months. I have unfollowed because I no longer relate to the content or there is no more content because giveaways are so frequent.

It also comes down to time. If I don't unfollow blogs I no longer relate to then...I don't have the time to look at all of the ones I really read.

I used to go through spells where I would enjoy reading style blogs and then where I didn't. Style can change so much for some people.

This ended up being really lengthy, but good luck on your braces! I am also one of the people who enjoyed having them :)

You have some interesting topics today! Congrats on the braces! I have a slight underbite and my bottom teeth have chipped my two top teeth so I am super self conscious about that, too.

I unfollow blogs when I see things i really don't like. Offensive comments, a lack of blogger response, arguing with the commenters, and if I discover what I think are ethical violations like plagiarism and copy catting. Seriously if you have a blog that has more than 10 people, much less 100 or 1000 people commenting, the least you can do is respond to the comments. If bloggers are asking for certain commentary and then respond with snark or passive aggressiveness, I delete them. I understand that in blog-land, we all have to be "nice" to each other, but ripping off fellow bloggers and responding aggressively to honest and constructive criticism make them "mean girls" in my opinion and I unfollow immediately no matter how time consuming it is.

On twitter, I always follow back, but I audit my following list once a month (you can see if someone is following you) and if they unfollowed me after I followed them back, I unfollow them, too.
I know, I don't fit in well with the "nice blogger" crowd. Oh well.

This was a great topic!

The biggest reason I unfollow is due to not having anything in common with the person or their writing. It may have nothing to do with liking them or not, but just what they write. And while it does bother me, a lot, to get ppl to unfollow me, I realize that people are all different, have different tastes, and you aren't going to like 100% of things. Some people just dont click. Most of the time it's nothing personal.

However, I have unfollowed some ladies because they seem so self-involved. It's all about people copying them or being jealous or guys just drooling over them. That's a pet peeve of mine, so if a blogger is like that, I immediately am not interested in reading. And they may not be like that at all, but I just don't want to read it. I hope that doesn't sound terribly mean.

Love the scarf, and congrats on the new gig! You'll be great!

Love the scarf, love the blazer over the vest, and love that you are taking yourself to the ortho if your teeth are bothering you! I think you are super cute - but I always think of my brother, who was so self-conscious of his smile that it really affected him, and after finally taking the plunge to get adult braces, he is a totally different guy - smiling huge and so confident! 1-2 years of braces is nothing in the big picture really :)(That being said - invisalign would be awesome!! Good luck!)

I guess I don't really mind if someone unfollows me. I mean, I would like to have a lot more followers, but it seems like so much of it is "follow me and i'll follow you", and then what's the point? If I am following your blog, it means I actually want to read it.

I don't usually unfollow blogs, but sometimes if I really don't ever read their posts, I will unfollow just to clean up my google reader. Now I feel bad about it! I hope I didn't hurt anyone's feelings!

I struggled just this morning with what to wear under my blazer for work today. You are a "what-to-wear-under-a-blazer" genius and I thank you for the inspiration. And I LOVE Kiki La Rue and of course, Becka!

And - I would only unfollow if I really don't read a person's blog because they just aren't my taste. I follow hundreds of blogs and clearly only read a handful religiously, but I'm just too lazy to unfollow the rest. I get sad when people unfollow, but then I think "well, if I'm not their taste, then that's OK." I don't expect to be liked by everyone - let alone anyone. I'm just glad people like yourself choose to read my BS at all :)

Hey lady--I did Invisalign for 3 years if you need/want any advice!

I am definitely going to go through these comments! Thanks for starting such a great convo. :) I also wonder what makes people unfollow...it's hard not to take it personally when you put so much time and effort into each post.

I'm still following because I love your blog!

I feel you on the unfollowing. I had two this week :( although it's a bit more obvious when you're at 135 and it goes down. Oh well their loss for both of us!

I love Kiki LaRue!!! I just bought some jeggings from her site & I can't wait to receive them! Been thinking about purchasing this scarf but in a different color...they are all so CUTE!! Love her site!

Um I am so in love with this outfit but then again when am I not? Love the scarf!

I was ready to live in that scarf as soon as I saw the first picture. Gorgeous!

That first gif....L.O.L.

I unfollow if I find the content uninteresting. I went through a following binge when I started blogging and just recently when back and cleaned out my google reader. I felt bad, but it was overwhelming. I still think someone was just jealous of your fabooshness.

1) I LOVEEEEE this outfit. it is SO snazzy and the layering is AMAZEBALLS, shanna!

2) YAY for your new venture! seriously. so excited for you!

3) AWESOME for getting invisalign. I've never had braces - but I think you're beautiful just the way you are and if you wanna get braces, do it, girl!

4) I LOVE having a Facebook page! It's my favorite outlet to post on!

5) I don't really understand unfollow either. I mean, I guess I do it sometimes if I really don't like the content someone is posting, but it's rare. Honestly, I get most sad when I get unliked on Facebook. Weird, I know.

Aw, Shanna. I wouldn't take the unfollows that hard even though I agree it can be a bummer. I personally want readers who genuinely want to follow my blog, and if people are there for other reasons then they're not the right kind of people you want on the bus anyway.

Honestly, it takes a lot for me to actually follow a blog because I don't like a lot of clutter in my life, my inbox, or in my blog list, and when I open up my reading list I want to LOVE everything that I see. Plus, I don't have a lot of time to sift through blogs so I try to curate my reading list. I usually unfollow when I don't have a relationship with that person anymore or if their content just isn't of interest to me. The latter isn't a personal thing--one blog doesn't have to be everyone's cup of tea, and vice versa, I know not everyone wants to read my own blog. If I unfollow someone it doesn't mean their blog sucks, it just means that it's not the right fit for me anymore.

You and your blog are fantastic, Shanna, and don't let a few unfollows let you think otherwise! It just means that everyone else who is sticking around REALLY wants to be here!

Love the outfit...2 jackets? would never have thought of that!! I have good teeth, if I do say so myself (without trying to brag) but this one tooth on the bottom row just likes to stick up and out, which messes up my front bottom teeth...makes sense? I had braces from 21-22/23 and it popped right back up a few months after i got them off. My new dentist wants me in braces again..I said NO!!!
I have noticed the unfollowing of bloggers too...within the last weekend I went from 83-81-82-81 now 82 again. I'm still a small blogger, but that's just weird and within 2 days? I don't even know how to unfollow, but when I first started I did follow those "follow me back" and have realized that they have not commented once since they first commented...weird. Oh well. I would never unfollow you...I heart you and your clothes too much hahah

Franziska said...

Well, you're already at 85 comments but I figured I might as well throw in my 2 (or 60) cents. I'm sure your mailbox is overwhelmed so what's one more?

When I visit a new blog that I enjoy, or even comment on, I almost always join on GFC. It's my way of showing support for another blogger since I know that number means a lot to people, sponsors, and the blogger themselves. I feel that blogging is about connecting with one another, so showing that support as in initial way to do that.

To personally follow blogs though, I use bloglovin. My list of blogs that I read daily grows though, so I always do a little bit of editing and unfollow on bloglovin for the following reasons:

- after leaving several comments or ways of connecting, and them never one reaching out to me, I unfollow. It's not like I'm trying to connect with the bloggers who have 20K GFC followers. These are blogs 'our' size (I saw that loosely because yours is much larger than mine) where I want to have that connection. If they don't feel the same way, and aren't offering me something really worth staying, then I unfollow
- If I find myself just skipping their blog posts over and over again in bloglovin. It may because their posts are repetitive, or what they are wearing is just not worth looking at, or if I'm not at all interested in seeing what they are doing. I feel bad because loosing followers is somewhat personal, but I still give them the GFC number so I consider that my support. If they don't want to do anything though to ever earn more, than see ya.
- If I only followed because it was a requirement for a giveaway. We all do it, so I don't feel too bad.

So I guess basically it comes down to the relationship with a blogger. If they make an effort, even just once, I'll be more than likely sticking around.

unfollowing used to bother me until i started unfollowing people myself! lol. most of the time i only unfollow if i completely lose interest in the blog or if they write something that offends me! you are an amazing blogger, shanna and you don't need to stress over a few people unfollowing here and there! you have built up as many followers as me in a third the time and you easily get 50 comments on each post! you are definitely doing something right and you don't want people following if they won't interact anyways, right?

Head to Toe Chic said...

I'm obsessed with your scarf!!! I used to get bothered when people unfollow me but I think people do it most of the time once a giveaway is over. Don't really need those people around anyway. Good luck with the orthodontist! I had braces for 5 or 6 years when I was younger. It sucked, but it was worth it!

Ok 1. Very cute outfit, those colors look great together, and on you! 2. Love the gifs in this post! 3. Good luck at the orthodontist! and 4. I don't know why people feel the need to unfollow on GFC, I never really do. And I don't know why they would unfollow YOU of all people! Your blog is great! :) I take it personally too, but we really shouldn't. Just keep doing what you do, a lot of people love it!

Love your outfit! Just so you know, whether or not you get the braces, you're beautiful...I wouldn't worry about the unfollows, you're awesome and I enjoy catching up on everything you have going on!

Love that outfit!! And about the unfollows, I don't know why anyone would unfollow you. I love your posts and fashion ideas! I have done some unfollowing lately though. I just needed to clean up my reader a little. Not that any had content that was offensive but a lot of them I had followed because of one great post and then I realized it wasn't really my type of blog ya know. I like a lot of fashion, funny, and local stuff. With that being said though, I HATE to click unfollow because I know how I feel when I see I lose a follower. Sometimes i just tell myself that the person must have totally deleted their GFC/google profile all together, lol.

Love how you've layered the vest and blazer! Awesome. :)
And you should be able to use a straw with your tervis. I love mine. :)
And I usually only unfollow blogs that have quit posting or have Provence to be something different that I expected. I prefer style blogs over lifestyle blogs which usually end up boring me after a while. :)

Kelly { MessyDirtyHair } said...

Love the color combo!!! The yellow scarf looks great against the blazer! Love the shoes! And I think you have a beautiful smile!!! To be honest I'm not a fan of perfect teeth it's just so fake. I think it gives you a unique look when your teeth aren't perfect. And I feel ya on the follower thing...same exact week as you the same thing was happening to me on both GFC & Facebook....oh well we're better off without them!

I know when I first started reading blogs, I mostly found them through pinterest. I was just looking for something new to do/read. After awhile, I realised more of what interested me and what I wanted to still read daily. Since I use GFC, I didn't like having things that I just skipped over in my reading list, so I dropped things. I mean no offense to the blogger, it was really just me finding out my own tastes that caused me to unfollow people.

Hey Shanna! I've been away on vacation and was just catching up on your posts!! I can totally relate to your comment about the GFC unfollow... I've had that happen a couple of times lately. As a new blogger, I always get SO excited when someone new follows - but when I had a couple of people unfollow recently, it actually made me really sad. It's kind of nice to know that even someone as amazing as you with lot's of followers feels the same way :)

I'm a little late jumping in on this conversation, but I have to admit that I have unfollowed blogs before. Not one at a time, but on a couple rare occasions I pared down my blog roll substantially. I felt bad, but I went through a blogging crisis of sorts. I had joined oodles of blog hops in the hopes of connecting with other bloggers...and some of them required that I follow 10+ hosts. My blog roll was so clogged, I could no longer find the blogs I loved to read every day. I felt like I wasn't being genuine to those I was following just because I had to, and I decided to change that. After that, I vowed to only follow blogs that meant something to me. I know followers and pageviews are important for those hoping to attract sponsors, etc, but that just wasn't me. Someone unfollowed me today, and I have to say it's a bummer. I didn't realize that until I had more than a couple followers.
