Random Stripes

Black and Tan Stripe Dress from Old Navy Fall Outfit Idea

I got this Old Navy stripe dress during the Labor Day sales. Obviously, it didn't take me long to wear it. A few of my girlfriends and I headed to dinner Saturday night for a pre-baby shower celebration. It has the perfect amount of room and I knew I would be able to indulge in three different appetizers, a main course, dessert and a couple of cocktails in between without having to suck in. Can I get an amen?

Unfortunately, this exact dress sold out rather quickly; possibly because it was a Refinery 29 Top Pick. They do have a few other colors still available. I highly recommend getting one for yourself, especially since everything at Old Navy is 30% off online right now (sale ends today). It's one of those pieces that isn't too heavy or light in fabric and can be layered for the upcoming cooler months. I plan on adding a blazer or denim jacket with my riding boots when we start to actually see fall weather around these parts. The Weather Channel app is telling me it's coming to visit on Saturday. Can I get another amen?

And since I haven't  been "random" in I don't know how long, here are a few:

1. I scored these Pottery Barn Seagrass chairs for my kitchen for an almost unbelievable price at their outlet store. I got three for less than the price of one. I need one more and waiting on them to get the fourth one in. Persistence, patience and willing to drive two hours round trip paid off.

2. I am so excited for Gone Girl to open next month. I knew they were making a movie, but had no idea it was coming out so soon. That book was all sorts of messed up...especially the ending, but I am dying to see it. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it. A friend of mine told me that there is a plot twist and possibly a completely different ending than in the book.

3. I am half way through my Invisalign treatment. I have thirty trays total and am on the sixteenth. Ahem, another amen? So far, I have been pleased. I can actually see a difference in my teeth. It's small, but I can see it. Even some of my friends and family have noticed the change. I am praying this one tooth that has been a thorn in my side will straighten after it's all said and done. And no, I don't keep "my teeth" (that's what I call them) in for blog pictures.  Luckily, it's been a pretty easy and painless process, except for the fact that I have to take them out every time I want to eat and I can't chew gum...I miss my Juicy Fruit & Big Red.

4. One last thing, I am over at Lauren's blog, Fizz & Frosting, recapping some of my favorite looks that have been great for the end of summer and styles that will also work for early fall. She is busy being a new mommy. I was happy to help her out while she is enjoying her new baby girl.

Great find from Old Navy! I am excited for Gone Girl too - that book was really crazy. I have read Sharp Objects from the same author. Not as good but equally messed up.

BTW, I am hosting my first link up on Thursday and hope you can join me.

Hi Shanna
Wow - You really know how to make something cute look super glam! I am loving the dress on you and really love how you teamed it with the leather collar!

Also - I am doing invisalign too!I am almost complete being on my 35th Tray out of 37!!! BUT I think I will continue to wear them for a little while longer as they need a little fine tuning! But overall have really loved the results!!!!

This is such a cute dress! I can see why it sold out so quick. I have to make my way back to an Old Navy at some point when I'm back in America - their clothes look so cute. Not that I didn't use to like them...but they use to seem more basic?

That dress is the CUTEST ever!!! I really love the material of the peter pan collar and how they made it unique, and the fit of the dress is so flattering as well. <3 Such a wonderful find.
I am waiting for Gone Girl movie with excitement. Reading the book I was kinda puzzled by the ending myself- felt a bit let down. Hope they did make a twist and made it different. :) Have a lovely Wednesday Shanna. XOXO, Elif

I could kick myself for not buying that dress! It was in my cart all weekend and I just forgot about it! They still have it in the navy stripe, so I think I will pick it up today. I can see that being worn a lot this fall! And I never noticed that there was anything wrong with your teeth. You have always looked lovely. But I am glad you are seeing the results you wanted(: Susan

great dress and I did not realize the collar was not attached, perfect compliment. I have noticed a big change in your teeth, and because I did the whole braces thing later in life I can so relate to the gum issue ( and corn on the cob and popcorn)

Love that collar necklace with the dress, it's perfect! We call our invisalign our "teeth" too, haha. But when we're talking to people we call them retainers, cause when you say, hey Mr. did you remember our teeth? It implies we're 80+ and have dentures...haha.
