Color Palette Play

I thought it would be fun to start a new series, one that doesn't necessarily come to you on a weekly basis, but when I am inspired with certain color palettes. I can combine all sorts of color combinations when it comes to clothes and putting outfits together, but when it comes to home decor, I am a lost soul. You would think the two would go hand and hand, but they don't, at least not for me. I think we have a certain eye for one or the other, and some have the gift of being dynamic at both. I am not one of them. One of my best friends is an interior designer and every wall that has been painted in my house was chosen by her. She has a gift. And she texts me selfies of her in outfits asking if this or that looks okay. Too bad we can't morph our abilities.

Kiki La'Rue Maddie Top c/o // Gap Denim (option here and here) // Kiki La'Rue Scarf c/o // Sam & Libby Boots from Target // Forever 21 Bag (option here and here) // Mint Sugar Boutique Tassel Necklace (option here) // T+J Designs Leopard Bracelet c/o // Lilac Bijoux Bow Bangle (option here) // Michael Kors Watch c/o The Jeweler's Wife // H&M Sunglasses (option here)

So, I dreamed up this idea to help those of you in need of color combining ideas when it comes to your closet and wardrobe. The two shades of green, gold, a dash of black and hint of leopard makes a statement, but isn't too loud or overly boisterous. This mixture of hues can work for all seasons depending on the fabric and textures. It's a combination that I probably wouldn't have meshed together on my own, but luckily this Maddie top and scarf from Kiki La'Rue arrived in the mail together. So, fortunately, it didn't require much effort or brain power. They were meant to be a team.

Are you better with coordinating colors with clothes or home decor? Or were you gifted with both? And what do you think about this new feature? Helpful? Yea or Nay?

Shanna

Great color combo and I am in love with your booties!! Don't you love it when you create an outfit or color combo by accident (like doing laundry).

Chartreus is a very difficult color for me to wear. I just posted about mustard which is a tough color and now there's 2 colors I can't wear.

I like this idea for a series! And this look is adorable! I have been crazy about mustard yellow and darker greens lately for some reason, too - I like that you paired them with a cheetah print!

Great color combo! I don't do to bad with mixing colors, home decor though isn't as good.

Such a fun color combination! I really like this idea. Can't wait to see the next in the series! (And so with you on home decor. It's just not my thing!)

I've always been better with home decor than clothing, but I'm learning now that I can do both. I love when items "accidentally" end up next to each other in my closet or the laundry...it gives me new ideas! Love these colors together!!

You look beautiful, what a great color combo! I'd like to think that I'm good with both colors for clothes and color for interiors, but who knows if I'm just kidding myself! I did pick out all the paint colors in our house and I love the way our house looks... so that's something right! :)

I agree...it seems you either have the ability to mix colors, or you don't. Mixing colors on clothing comes naturally to me, but I agree, I lack in home decor...interesting! Thanks for the post...LOVE leopard (I have those ankle boots too) with the greens!

I love the yellow and green together! Very cute! I'm pretty good at it when it comes to clothing, but not as great in home decor. I need to step out of my box when it comes to things matching in my house...lol!

Ok I just want to raid your closet!! Everyday when I read your blog I get totally inspired!! I am kinda the same with home decor tho! I tend to stick to like a 2 color palette in each room--totally boring--but I am trying to branch out :)

I love the idea of using colour palettes as inspiration! It's something I do, but more so on a subconscious level where I get inspired by the colours in a photo or something!

I love the idea. In fact, I recently pinned numerous paint chip ideas on my home decor pinboard, but with the real intent of using those to guide wardrobe inspo vs decorating. I love to decorate but am really limited with the house we currently own. So, I'm using that creative energy on fashion. I'm having a blast with it because of blogs like yours. Looking forward to future posts. Well done, Shanna! Thank you for sharing your talent and beauty with us readers.
