Let's Rodeo

Like I mentioned last week, I want to use a few of my #ootd pictures from Instagram and recreate the looks for your shopping pleasure.

Let's get to gettin', Texas rodeo style, y'all.

Let's Rodeo

Jacket | Dress | Belt | Boots | Bag | Earrings

In Texas, the month of March is known as official rodeo season. I grew up in the Houston area and went to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo every year. It's one of the greatest memories I have from my teenage and college days. The cook-off, concerts, carnival food, Ferris wheel rides and of course the cowboys define what a rodeo should be and Houston does it up right year after year.

Unfortunately, we haven't been able to make it to Houston for the rodeo in quite some time. I just have to live vicariously through everyone's pictures on Instagram and Facebook.

Fortunately, Austin has a smaller (much smaller) version of the Houston production and we do make it out every year for this one. It's actually really nice because you don't have to fight the crazy crowds and traffic. The musical performances are no George Strait or Jason Aldean, but you aren't 150 miles away from the stage either. We went earlier this week and caught the bucking broncs, Eli Young Band, did a little two-steppin' and ate way to much carnival food. Pizza on a stick anyone?

We plan on going back Friday night for the cook-off. Again, it's nothing like the one in Houston, but I am starting to become partial to what Austin has to offer...less production and more of a good Texas time.

Have you ever been to a rodeo? Do you own a pair of boots? You know, you don't have to live in the South, ride a horse or even like country music to rock a pair. Just sayin'.

Yee-haw, giddy up or ride 'em cowboy.

I love your rodeo look! Went to a rodeo, once. Have never owned cowboy boots, but did borrow a pair of boots and wranglers when I went to a Reba concert in college.

Woah! I'm really digging the template/theme of this website. It's simple, yet effective.
A lot of times it's difficult to get that "perfect balance" between usability and appearance. I must say you have done a superb job with this. Also, the blog loads extremely quick for me on Firefox. Superb Blog!

How far is Houston from Austin? I got to Houston all the time but never really venture too far from there. I've been to that big rodeo before but it has been years. I can't remember who performed. Some big country singer (duh) I think. Maybe Tim last name starts with a M?

I go to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo every year. I wanted to go to the Houston rodeo this year because they had a pretty good entertainment line-up but I was worn out from the SA rodeo.

The rodeo is a lot of fun. I have a lot of memories at the rodeo. It's a great experience.

I went to the rodeo at the stockyards in Fort Worth a few years ago and it was AWESOME. I had so much fun! And girl, you know I love my cowboy boots! :)

Love the rodeo outfit! Such a great print on the dress :) I lived in cowboy boots from I think age 14-20, but now mostly wear my Frye boots to work every day, they're not quite so pointy & more comfortable for my old ballerina feet :)

How fun! I have never been to a rodeo (we don't have many in Maine I guess haha!), but I think it would be so exciting to. I love the outfit and even if I don't go to a rodeo any time soon I would love to wear it.

Jacqueline said...

I've been to a rodeo {of the Ohio variety} plenty of country concerts, and lots of livestock fairs... so I'm guessing putting the 3 together...in TX would be fantastic!

And as always, your outfit was perfect!

I have to admit that I totally didn't want to click on your blog today when I saw rodeo - only because I grew up in Dalhart, TX and rodeo's happened all the freakin time and I hated them. haha! however, I decided to look past that and look at the cute outfit you're wearing and I absolutely love it! Iw ill say, however, I'm totally into the bull riding and team roping - those keep me entertained. ha

Love that outfit! I've never been to a rodeo, but always thought it would be fun, although I can just imagine my allergies with all that dust and hay...maybe I'll stay away for a little longer :) Austin seems like such a fun place.

I love these posts! Actually I love all of your posts...but please keep these coming!

Yes I have boots! I hadn't had a pair since elementary school, but bought some for the rodeo last year. They are red and super cute! Great for some two-steppin action!

I've been to a rodeo one time and it was one time too many for me. I absolutely hated it. Oh well. Cowboy boots are awesome but I don't own any. That dress is adorable!!!

This is a perfect summer dress. I need a jean jacket for layering- I threw mine away a couple years ago when they went "out" of style. I should've known everything always comes back in style soon after!

Hannah @ Just Call Me HaHa said...

I have been to a rodeo, although it was very small and years ago!

I also have boots, they're pink :) One of my good friends moved to Houston after high school, any time one of 'the girls' gets married, she gifts them a pair of cowboy boots!

I've always wanted to go to a rodeo. When I lived in OK, years ago, we had a chance, but never went.
Love the boots. I've been saving up for some...sort of, because then I go to Target and spend my boot money!

I have been to the rodeo when it came to Nashville but there was no dancing. Just watched people get thrown off bulls and me thinking they are really whacked to do such an activity after bawling my eyes out watching 8 Seconds several years prior.
