Just Jute It - DIY Clutch Purse

I was on a mission at Hobby Lobby to grab a flower to use as a hair accessory for the photo shoot I helped style a week-and-a-half ago.  But, if you are a Hobby Lobby lover like me, there is no running in and running out.  There is always something new to discover or stumble upon when you least expect it.

I was reminding myself to remain focused on the goal at hand.  Ha!  Yeah, right.  I totally lost all concentration when I spotted these little beauties...jute clutch purses.  Fashionable purses at Hobby Lobby?  What?  Like Ren McCormick says in Footloose, "Jump back!"

Well, my friends, it's true.  They have an entire section of fun and affordable jute bags, purses and my favorite, the clutch!  So, I whipped out my iPhone and started taking pictures.  I found some fun accent fashion pins and started playing purse dress-up.  Really, Shanna?  Yes, I was that girl that laid the purses on the floor in Hobby Lobby and started creating fun easy, DIY clutches.

This is a NO SEW project...just don't poke yourself when you are pinning to the purse.  If you do like to sew, then your options just quadrupled, because there are so many appliques you can put on these clutches...good luck choosing...I would be wandering Hobby Lobby for days deciding what to buy!

Now to the best part, besides looking totally fab, they are only...wait for it...you won't believe it...$3.99!!  The drive out price of the large one with the brown button is $5.99 and you don't have to get any additional accessories to put on it.  Remember, Hobby Lobby always has a 40% off coupon on regular priced items.  I use it every time I go, you can just pull it up on your phone and show the cashier.

So, here are some of my jute clutch dress-up creations.

Bold Black Flower with White Polka Dots

Chic Little Cream Bow with Black Polka Dots
Eclectic Beaded Circle (My Personal Fave!)
Seashell and Beaded Square
The Brand is - Me & My Bag - So fitting, right?

So, there you have it...A quick, easy, affordable and don't forget fashionable DIY clutch all for $10.00 or less!  Let me know if you go out and make one.  I would love to see your design...maybe it will show up on Pinterest!

Cheers...and Happy Clutching!

Loving My Red Skinny Jeans

I finally did it...I bought a pair of red skinny jeans.  I have been eyeing them since last Fall and just read in my US Weekly that bold colored jeans are here to stay for a little while longer.  So, I thought, why not, plus I scored them on sale at Old Navy for $31.00.  The fab thing about red skinny jeans is that you can dress them up or down...wear them to work or for a night on the town!

(Note: If you are frightened of skinny jeans, there are some great regular fit red jeans out there too!)

I took a few photos wearing them out to a new wine bar that just opened in my hometown of Round Rock, Texas.  It's called Krave and it is fantastic...we felt like we were in downtown Austin.  Great vibe, laid back atmosphere and lots of wine to choose from.  If you are in the area, check it out - www.kravewinebar.com

2012 Spring Fashion Trend - #2 Feminine Florals

Everything is coming up roses (and daisies and orchids and even daffodils) in 2012.  When the floral trend first appeared last year, I was like really?  Floral patterns, UGH!  It reminded me of Little House on the Prairie and I wasn't digging it....until recently.  As the trend has grown, more designers and lines are creating pieces that I actually like...A LOT!  From tops to dresses to accessories, floral prints are everywhere....even on shoes!

The fab news is that you won't have to worry about looking for that perfect floral top or dress because the stores are making it easy on all of us...the prints will be everywhere!

Like I always say, keep it simple.  Pick one key item and work around it, add simple accessories like cute a pair of shoes, fun nail polish and minimal jewelry.  You don't want to look like The Secret Garden.

I put together two outfits below to give you an idea of what I am talking about. As always, they are affordable fashion suggestions and true fashion on a budget.  Remember, the bargains always show up at my doorstep.

The first is fancier & dressier. I call it "Jackie O." meets "Pretty Woman" meets "The Girl Next Door".  I love the boldness of the dress and the femininity of the accessories.  BTW, I found the dress on www.modcloth.com.  This website is a dream!  Everything on here is so cute, unique,  "boutique-y" looking and best of all AFFORDABLE

Now, are you ready for a "Because Shanna Said So" tip?  Target has almost the exact same shoes that I have featured below for $30.00. I saw them today and fell in LOVE.  I plan to go make my purchase this week!  I tried to find them online, but they aren't listed yet.

Fashion on a Budget - Crazy for Canary

Are you ready for fashion on a budget?  Scroll down and see the outfit!  It's okay if you don't like the entire ensemble, but I hope there something in this set that you would love to add to your wardrobe.

All of the items are available in stores or online right now.  Each item is under $30.00!!!  The ENTIRE outfit, including the cosmetics, is less than $150.00!!  I am known to be quite the Bargain Queen. Here is how it all came together...

I was at Target and found this super cute ruffle top that had little canaries on it.  I am loving all the bird patterns right now...canaries, doves, owls, sparrows and feathers in general.  This top inspired me to put together an entire outfit.  I also bought the cardigan to go over the top too.   It's available at Target as well.

I already have the shoes.  I actually bought ones from Express that look exactly like the ones listed for double the price.  Then I saw these at Payless and was kicking myself.

Every girl needs a colorful clutch, an initial necklace, bangle bracelets, dainty earrings and a bold ring.  Most of the accessories were found at Forever 21...my favorite store on Earth.  My husband, actually bought me the cute little flower headband for Christmas.

The OPI Nail Polish featured is Samoan Sand.  It is the BEST nude color I have found. The Stila Lip Glaze  in Strawberry is a great sheer gloss and red lips are "in"...don't get left behind on the style trail!

The last item is a pair of jeggings!  Yes, I said jeggings!  These are leggings that look like jeans.  They are CRAZY comfy and super stylish!

Don't be scared to mix patterns and prints.  Don't worry about being "matchy-match"...Because Shanna Said So!

Stay tuned for more affordable fashion ideas.  The bargains always seem to find me and I promise to pass them onto you.  Cheers!
