Primary Mix

dressing in my thirties

Two of my favorite prints to mix are stripes and plaids. They were one of the first patterns I  combined when it came to putting outfits together. Mixing and matching prints easily expands your wardrobe and adds an unexpected  twist to basic pieces and colors.

I knew this stripe blazer would be a great addition to my closet and have already come up with several other styling ideas both now and for the upcoming months. Don't be surprised if you see it paired again with some sort of floral design...another mix that I love, especially for the warmer seasons.

If you are still on the fence about mixing prints and patterns you can always start with accessories and shoes: add a scarf that's different than the design on your dress or a pair animal print shoes with a stripe top. As you get more comfortable with what you like and prints you gravitate towards, it gets a lot easier and you will begin to notice yourself doing it without even thinking twice. Just have fun and play around with what you already have hanging.

To give you more ideas and style inspiration, below are a few other outfits where I blended various patterns, textures, colors and prints.
