Heeeeey! Howdy to all the new friends! I am blown away and thankful by the beautimous faces that have joined along for this little ride. If you are new to these parts, make yourself at home and grab yourself a Diet Dr. Pepper. There are plenty in the fridge. I tend to keep it relaxed and real here. No drama for your momma, usually nothing too serious or deep and anyone and everyone are always welcome. Just say and play nice. That's all I ask. Hope you don't mind.

So, I wore this yesterday for my Valentine's lunch rendezvous with Ross. I felt like if I didn't wear something red I was gonna get pinched. I know that is a St. Patrick's Day tradition, but I still had that mind set. We hit up our favorite sushi spot and enjoyed a little love day without the girls in tow. It was nice and much needed. If you live in the Austin area, I highly recommend Tomo Sushi. I have yet to put anything but deliciousness between my chopsticks.

Earlier this week I was going through a bunch of old pictures for the post I did for Landry's birthday. I came across some photos when I had shorter and lighter hair. It got me thinking that maybe I should do something different. I am in a hair funk, but every time I cut my hair I end up regretting it because it takes forever to grow. Ross likes it short, but I am on the fence. Here are a few pictures when it was shorter. What do you ladies think? You know how I need feedback and opinions. Keep it long? Cut it off? Go lighter? Oh, the decisions we have in life.

Some of you know that I had a style session with Taylor from Pink Heels Pink Truck this week. She loaded her entire closet (shoes and all) for a trip to visit me. It was so great meeting her in real life and we immediately hit it off. Okay, here is the deal. I am not gonna lie. This one was my biggest style challenges yet. Let me tell ya why. Taylor like heels. I'm talking five inch heels and 80% of her collection are just that. She is a minimalist when it comes to accessories and you know how much I love scarves, necklaces, bags, etc. So, I was a little nervous when we first started. I wanted to be sure that I was putting outfits together that Taylor liked and would actually wear. I had to step out of my personal style and mentally enter hers. This was a good thing. We all have different style preferences, body types, budgets and personalities and I want to be able to cater to all women, not just the ones who have the same tastes as me. Thankfully, Taylor was thrilled with the outcome and what we put together. It was a team effort and she offered her input the entire time. At the end of the day, I just wanted to create lots of new outfits with what she already owned...ones that she would be excited to wear. You can read her thoughts on how the session went. Here is a snip-it of what we did with her light pink skinny jeans. If you are interested in finding out more about what styling services I offer, local or out of town, just visit my Hire Me page.

For a quick second I thought today was Wednesday because this post ended up being completely random. That's kind of how my mind has been working lately.

Have fab weekend and do something fun! I am off to get ready for Landry's princess birthday ball. Once a princess always a princess.

P.S. In case today is the first time you are visiting this week, there are some pretty crazy giveaways going on right now. Make sure you check them out here, here and here.

Have a great weekend Shanna. My hubby did the same thing - met for a nice sans kid sushi lunch! I avoided red but felt like I was the only gal not wearing red!

You look fab!

Im always a fan of a little cheetah print!

Long or short, your hair looks great either way. But being someone with hair that takes FOREVER to grow, it hurts my eyes to see people chop it off.

Happy Valentine's Day and have a great weekend!

Your Valntine's outfit is adorable...I love mixing red with anything! I also love what you did with the denim. I have a denim jacket and never know what to pair it with or if it's still even stylish. You gave me some new ideas! Personally, I think the shorter hair is cute...looks thicker and frames your face nicely. Have a great weekend!

I love your hair in the first two picture of the collage! It looks great now but I also love it lighter! That probably doesn't help you lol I'm in a MAJOR hair funk but I'm in my best friend's wedding in May so I'm trying not to cut it shorter like I want to. Oy.

And I LOVE this outfit! I need to pair stripes with leopard pronto.

I always feel the need to wear red/pink on Vday too! I like your hair short...but I also like it long. Tough choice! I always hate it when I cut mine then instantly regret it though.

Love you in that red blazer and those pants! I love your hair the way it is, but looking at these pictures, you look adorable with short hair! Ok, I don't think that helped you at all... :)

I'm in a hair funk too. I know if I mention that to my hair guy he is going to want to chop it all off. He says he loves my hair short but I don't. I like that first top left picture. Your hair looks great at that medium length. Personally I like it the way it is now but I know how it feels to be in a funk!

And oh my gosh, you look awesome with short hair! I totally love your previous looks. I've been tossing up chopping mine a bit, but can't decide either.
My vote is to go shorter, I really really like that 2nd from the top picture of you!

I vote for lighter hair, keep the length.

I'm glad you had a challenge in your new business - even though you were working with someone with a different style, you still created lovely outfits. Kudos!

I think it's great that you were forced out of your comfort zone in your styling mission. Looks like you did a great job.

I'm a big fan of longer hair so that's my vote. Maybe go lighter to kick things up a bit?

I love your style and your hair and would have told you to keep in long until I saw that pictures you posted. I say go shorter, medium bob length. Besides it's just hair and it will grow eventually.

There's that blazer again! I really need to stop by Kohls. I am with you, I love to change my hair, but I always, always, always regret cutting it off or adding bangs! For me it just takes so much more effort to style when its shorter. I have very wavy hair so the shorter it is the bigger it gets!! Whatever you decide I am sure you look amazing! {I do like your hair shorter btw}

hmm tough decision! you look really cute with the shorter hair.. i like the pic where it's just longer then your shoulders.. but i also know where you are coming from with how long it takes to grow out! Mine is still growing out from cutting it back in '08! love your hair both lengths! maybe just try lightening like you also miss? for now. ;)

So I really like your hair short. And I like the photos of the neutral lips. And I like it lighter too. So the choice is what do you like? And it's only hair.. It grows back! Do it. I just decided for you!

My opinion as a stylist.... I would always change color first...it can be changed again easily and quickly if you're not a fan, unlike it takes fine hair a lot longer to grow once you chop.
If you sat in my chair I would brighten your color (light & warm high-lights) you could even think about adding in some low-lights, have you done that before? Just to about a level 7, it creates contrast, depth & movement in the hair, also a nice trim to thicken up the ends with a reshaping of layers.... Thee are so many possibilities...but I strongly recommend color first since you already know you regret cutting, then you can slowly change the cut to achieve your perfect look!
Wow, I kinda rambled there, good luck and keep us posted! :)

long or short..I agree with what others have said...you look great either way.
if hubby likes it a little shorter-go for that for awhile.(again)

Danielle Wallace said...

I think your hair looks awesome short, but I love long hair so I think you should lighten it and add some layers for some va-va-vum!
I always love your styling! I get a ton of inspiration from you!
I think I need to do what you do with your clients and lay out all my clothes and put together outfits and take pictures... maybe that will stop me from thinking I need to buy more clothes! ...or maybe it won't ;)

My new hairstylist got mad at me when I said "it's just hair, cut it off"....my hair takes forever to grow back as well, but sometimes you just need a change. I say stick with the length, maybe add in layers and try a new way to dye your hair? I love dying my hair different shades of brown oh and I once played around with extensions!! As for the outfits, good job as usual and that last pic with the 3 shoes....is it ok to reuse an outfit 3 times and just change the shoes or were those options for which shoes to wear? I have some outfits that I love to wear, but feel like they are over used and don't want to wear them anymore hahaha.
