A Birthday and Total Awkwardness

Yesterday was a milestone birthday for one of my most favorite ladies in the entire world.  We have been buds since my freshman year of college and were pledge sisters in our sorority.  We have been in each other's weddings, watched each other's babies come into this world, made some crazy traveling memories {most recently, our Vegas trip}, laughed and cried together and most importantly have been by each other's side through our most trying moments.  I consider her more of my sister than my friend.  So, this post is dedicated to her.  I am so lucky to have shared your birthday with you, and for those who know the story...she likes to party like it's 1998!

Before dinner I had the Hubs snap up a few pictures of my outfit.  Okay, I must say, this was total AWKWARDNESS!!!  If you have been reading my blog, you know that most of my outfit posts are taken in the comfort of my backyard.  WOW!  I give props to you ladies that go out and shoot pictures in public.  I am not a shy or introverted girl, but I felt like a HUGE DORK posing on the sidewalk in downtown Austin.  People were seriously staring and giving us the, "you are so shallow for taking all these pictures of yourself look." All I wanted to do was shout out, "This is for my blog, people!!"  Oh well, at the end of the day, who really cares, but I will say again, big high fives for all of you that do this all the time...I think I am going to head back to my little piece of privacy.

Dress: c/o Strut in Austin | Blazer: Lauren Conrad for Kohls | Shoes: Steve Madden | Jewelry:F21

Can you tell that I look a little nervous in the pictures? Through my super fake smile, I was telling the hubs to hurry up and keep snapping! God love him for putting up with me. I know most of us bloggers depend on our devoted {and annoyed at times} better halves to be the men behind the scenes! Let's all go home tonight and tell them that they have been promoted to co-producer.  Do you think they would accept or decline the offer?

Cheers to birthdays, backyards and better halves!

Love your dress! Gorgeous as always! I still feel so awkward taking pictures in public especially when I take them downtown. Guess it takes time to feel more comfortable.

I love how your dress has pattern mixing built in! I get really nervous taking my photos too even though I usually don't stray far from my block! Pretty convinced the neighbors think I'm nuts for constantly taking photos of myself, haha.

What a fun birthday!!

And you look awesome! I live alone and my apartment has zero lighting. So I sneak out to the lobby to take pics in the big mirror. Luckily I live next to it because if I hear any noise I literally run back into my apartment lol!!

Just found your blog and am loving it! You made me laugh with the whole picture taking situation... I feel ya! I can barely take pictures in the FRONT yard let alone a public street. :) Love your dress too!

OH EM GEE!! I totally feel like this and that is why I have hardly taken any 'outfit' pics because since I live alone I have to awkwardly ask people to take them, and sometimes even when the setting is right and I am lovin' my ensemble I just CANNOT bring myself to ask! I mean I have posed for many of pictures...BUT solo is a different story!! You're a beauty, LOVE YOU, and YES mad props to those bloggers with no care-I want to know your tips!! ;)
LOVE YOU!! XOXO, Jessica

Haha I'm so with you. I always want to take pics of my outfits, but who really wants to take a bunch of pictures of me for my blog? Haha...guess that's what husbands are for. Guess I need to get myself one of those. :)

My friend and I had a recent photo shoot in CHicago, just for fun, and everyone was totally staring. Haha...kind of put us on the spot.

Happy happy Thursday!
Finally catching up on some blog reading.

Love your outfit! And thanks for being brave enough to take your pictures in downtown austin :)

I have been coveting your friend's dress for so long now... everytime I get brave enough to maybe buy it, it's sold out. But it looks fantastic on her!
