Friends Through Thick and Thin

Today's post isn't about the latest trend or the next best cosmetic product or showing the outfit I wore yesterday. It's about something bigger, something you can't put a price tag on and something that never goes out of style...FRIENDSHIP.

One of my most favorite blogging friends {you know who you are} were talking and she mentioned that during this time in her life she was trying to decipher who her "real" friends are.  I think this is something all women go through.

You don't have to talk to someone every day on the phone, by text or email, for them to be considered a good friend.  A "tried and true friend" is one that will be there for you no matter what {good or bad}...One that you may not see or talk to for months but can pick up right where you left off...One that may not always agree with you, but doesn't walk away...One that picks your butt off the floor and says, "Put Your Big Girl Panties on and Deal With It".

I know this first hand.  I have been through a lot over the last year or so, and during that time I found out who my real friends were. They never left my side, even when it wasn't my finest moment.  For that, I am grateful.  I don't know where I would be without them.

I found a few quotes/sayings on Pinterest that I wanted to share with you. In my eyes, they solitify the true meaning of friendship.  I know that we all go through times in our life when we wonder if we really have any "true friends". Just remember, being someone's friend is not one-sided or self-seeking. It's a job that you want to do your best at and work hard at...and something you always show up on time for.

Surround yourself with people who love YOU for YOU...not someone that they want you to be.

Cheers to new friends, old friends and most of all TRUE friends!

Great Post Shanna! I had a baby really young, and most of my friends dropped off the face of the earth. It's always interesting to see who will be there when times get tough. Everyone always told me if you want to know who your true friends are then plan a wedding. They weren't lying! Thanks for the post, I'm sure a lot of people including myself can benefit from it. *xo*

Well said Shanna. To your friend, I don't think you can put your finger on it or decide who's in for the taking...you'll know when you go through something and they're still standing by your side. And as hard as it is to make new friends - it can be done. Been there and I've made some awesome friends in the last 2 years so everything happens for a reason!

Love the message of this post, Shanna! As I get older, it seems most of my good friends live in different states so I don't get to see them as often but when I do it's like no time has passed :)

Well said! Us tough girls have to stick together and make sure and help the not so tough girls. The word "Friend" covers so much!!

I couldn't agree with you more Miss Shanna! I can't tell you the pain I have been through in the past few years over "friends". I lost 2 groups of girlfriends since high school and college and it was awful. I was alone a lot of the time, but there were a few that stuck by me no matter what. We didn't talk every day and still don't or hang out a lot for that matter, but they are true and loyal and loving. You are exactly right...surround yourself with people who love you for you!...not for what you can do for them. Love this post so much!! You're wonderful girl :)

Love the one that says, your friends know all about you but still like you, that is sooooo true! True friends are hard to come by but so worth the wait!!

SO GLAD TO FIND THIS POST!! at least I don't feel so crazy anymore!! Much as we'd like to keep all the friends we make over time, there are only the few who truly care for you and those are the only ones I fight to keep.
