Pink and Red

Pink Red Gray Oufit for Valentine's Day

I don't know about you, but I am officially in the Valentine's Day spirit. Why is it that I get more involved with this holiday (is it even REALLY consider a holiday) than I do for any other festive season? Maybe it's because Ross and I shot some super fun, sassy and glam looks for heart day a few days ago (coming soon). Ever since, I have red, pink, hearts, glitter, xoxo and Fifty Shades of Grey on my brain.

I am not one to go ga-ga over Valentine's Day. Let's be real. I have been married almost fifteen years and all that jazz kind of wears off. Sad, but true. However, I do get giddy over a good mix of red and pink, Target heart displays, rows of Hobby Lobby decor, Dollar Tree dollar things and so on. I guess it's the girly part of me that gets googly eyed over roses, red woven baskets, chocolate covered strawberries, pink hearts, S.W.A.K. ridiculousness and $.99 photo props at Wal-Mart. I am that girl...Santa Who?

I mentioned Fifty Shades of Grey above. Yep, I am that girl that read all three books almost three years ago. After I finished the series I swore this story had to come to the big screen....but how? How would they do it? Still not sure, and I don't care. It's opening next month and you can bet your bottom dollar that I bought pre-sale tickets for Valentine's Day. Ross is a trooper!!

She is probably going to KILL me for saying this, but my mom finally hopped on the Christian Grey bandwagon. I pretty much covered my eyes & started blushing when I found out she was reading the books. Oh well, it's a fun little fantasy and a sweet love story. I CANNOT wait to see if my "vision" comes to life on the movie screen! Ha! Who's with me? Please don't judge if you're not. :)

Three ways I wore this red coat:

So Many Bloggers Do Them...

...Yep, the Instagram/Facebook Page review. I used to recap all the time...my life, outfits and moments, but I haven't posted one in FOREVER. Some may think it's regurgitating pictures of what many have already seen on Instagram & Facebook, but I said to myself, "Hey, maybe there are some friends out there that read my blog, but don't have one of these accounts or don't know I have one". Well, I do and would LOVE it if you decided to follow along.

Anyway, every so often I blog an Instagram #ootd (outfit of the day) recreate to show you guys where I purchased certain pieces or provide style ideas...pictures of outfits I wore that never make it to my blog. I have slacked on this, along with several other things, but we won't go into that.

What we will we chat about are selfies, clothes, cosmetics and my dog.

This past weekend I shoved Ross and Landry out of the house because Logan had the flu. They took Gus out for a little quail hunting treat at the ranch. I couldn't be more proud of this guy & his BFF, Hank. Needless to say, Gus came home and has slept for the past 24 hours...dog days are serious business!

Before I go, I wanted to ask if there are any features, posts or ideas that you want to see more of on Because Shanna Said So. I enjoy blogging, putting together my own personal style and sharing it with you. At the same time, I want my site to be a place where you gain something and have the desire to come back. So, if something has been missing, you have any questions, need advice or want to see more of a certain topic, please let me know. I am up for the challenge, looking for fresh features and new ideas. Let me know! xoxo

Fitness Inspiration in 2015

I mentioned a handful of my 2015 goals in this post. I am happy to report that I have stuck to them thus far. I know it's only been a little over a week since I wrote them down, but progress and accountability are key...one day at a time.

As most of you know, I am a wife and mom to two beautiful and very involved girls...plus an adoptive mom to a spotted fur child, Gus Wilbur. I left the "corporate world" almost three years ago to stay home with my kids. I wanted to have the flexibility to pick them up off the bus after school, be home with them during the holiday/summer months and to be more "present" in their lives.

During the week days, I work. My site is my job and contributes to our household income. I take it seriously and most days I am at home working on the computer or planning upcoming posts. Before I know it, it's 3:00 PM and time to walk down to scoop up the kids, complete homework, prepare dinner, chauffeur to extracurricular activities, spend time with my husband and BOOM it's bedtime.

Soooooo, with all that said, I've sort of, kind of lost my Shanna spark...you know the one where I used to take time for myself...go on lady luncheons, actually shop in a store and not in front of my computer screen, get a pedicure (it's been embarrassingly too long since my last), sit in a Sephora chair and let the ladies have their way with me and most importantly making time to carve out an hour for physical activity at least three days a week.

I picked up two of my favorite magazines, InStyle and PEOPLE StyleWatch, at Walmart and set aside some quality reading in a bubble bath. I immediately started flipping through for style and cosmetic inspiration. Surprisingly enough I was drawn to the articles that focused on fitness, health, exercise and getting my butt into shape for the new year. What? Who have I become?

Don't get me wrong, I still read all about new spring styles, what's on trend for 2015, tricks for mastering hair and make-up and even ways to flatter my shape (in hopes that I didn't actually need to exercise to look more fit). Again, the features discussing health stole my attention...especially the Instagram #buttspo (yes, that was the hashtag) that InStyle posted from readers. I was like daaaaaaaang....gimme some of that! Ha!

In all seriousness, both magazines gave me some exercise ideas, fun workout gear options, healthy recipes and MOTIVATION!!!

Last week I hit 9Rounds three times and plan on taking more walks/jogs with Gus along our neighborhood trails in between kickbox classes. I have never been a runner. I never will be. I will say that jogging for one minute and walking for three is a step in the right direction. It's all about getting out and moving. Participating in some sort of physical activity is better than sitting in a chair behind a computer all day.

Not to mention that a beach vacation coming up next month has put a little fire under my rear.

Even after that vacation has come and gone, working on my fitness regimen will be top priority for the rest of the year and hopefully for years to come. I have been a slacker and an excuse maker. Not anymore!! I will continue to turn to InStyle and PEOPLE StyleWatch for their exercise/workout features....and for style and make-up too!

2015 is a new year for lifestyle changes, no more excuses and spending quality/active time with MYSELF. #workit
