Maximizing Options

Yesterday? Magnificent. Spectacular. Glorious. The birds were singing. Not a cloud in the sky. Temperatures in the eighties. The grass seemed to get a little greener overnight. And I finally got new contacts. Bye-bye pink eye! Life is on the up and up. I promise to show my eyes again. I know the sunnies have been on repeat for over a week-and-a-half. Believe me, it wasn't fun. Putting on mascara again never felt so liberating. Ah, the little things.

Old Navy Sweater (option here and here) // Forever 21 Maxi Skirt (option here and here) // Forever 21 Crossbody (option here and here) // Target Gold Sandals (option here and here) // Sira & Mara Turquoise Necklace c/o // Wallis Stone Drop Necklace c/o (option here ) // Wrenn Jewelry Ring c/o // Forever 21 Rings (exact and option here) // Ettika Bracelet c/o // Lilac Bijoux XO Bangle c/o // Forever 21 Sunglasses

You know what else is liberating? Putting on sandals that haven't been worn in months. Digging them out from under the pile in my closet and slipping them on with this maxi skirt literally had me skipping down the sidewalk. This time of year and days like yesterday just make me happy. Plain and simple.

What doesn't make me happy? Every single time I post an item purchased from Forever 21 it's sold out before I can share it with you guys. Drives.Me.Nuts. I got this skirt just two weeks ago and it's already gone. So, from now on, when I do buy something from there I am going to immediately add it to my "SHOP" tab up above. So, check back often because the good stuff from F21 doesn't seem to last long and this one is oh, so good. It's already been doted on a couple of times since it's arrival. I got a similar one from Forever 21 last year that also received an immense amount of love. I am a sucker for elastic waists, bright, abstract prints and anything with the word maxi in it (when it comes to clothes).

On a styling note, some of you girls may think you are not tall enough to wear maxi skirts. I beg to differ. I actually pulled this one past my belly button (Steve Urkel style) and tucked in a sleeveless sweater. It actually gave the illusion of a dress. In fact, Ross said, "I like your dress today, babe." I said thank and quickly corrected him. I wanted to wear flat sandals, so I hiked it up a few inches and viola, it wasn't dragging the ground. If I want to wear wedges next time, I will scoot it down just a tad.

Yes, the bad news is this skirt is long gone online. The good news is I found some great printed maxi skirt options all $100 or much less. If you buy anything this spring season, I would highly recommend picking up a few maxi skirts. I personally do not own enough of them and plan on adding a few solid colors to my closet soon.

What a pretty maxi skirt! I think maxi dresses/skirts can really elongate anyone's height status. You look great!

That is such an unique and pretty maxi skirt. Sort of ethnic. I also like that other option you have listed. Beautiful necklaces & cobalt over-the-shoulder purse, too. Yeaaaay for the 80-degree weather. Spread it out all over the country!

IDK If you read them but I also stopped by yesterday and left you some comments. You have been knocking it out of the park, lately. =) I am wearing my Kelly Green Pants today, like you did yesterday.

Happy Hump Day! Ada. =)

Seriously Shanna, you look great in everything. I just got my very first maxi skirt in my Stitch Fix yesterday. I am afraid to try it on because I may be too short! But I am going to try this look with something tucked in - so hopefully it will be a go!! Happy sunny day!! Susan

Shanna I absolutely LOVE this outfit. For one I totally thought it was a maxi dress too until I read your post. You blended that sleeveless sweater so perfectly with the maxi, it's flawless and a brilliant idea. As a not super tall girl who can't live without maxi skirts/dresses in summer; I appreciate your suggestion of hiking the skirt up and down. Always have to do the same with flats. As usual great accessories, very cute bag color. Yayyy can't wait for summer days for sure! XOXO, Elif @ Theboxqueen

This whole post just makes me SO READY for spring. Or to move to Texas, either way I want maxi and sandal weather! You look gorgeous and yay for no more pink eye and wearing mascara! You did buy new mascara to avoid another relapse...right?
love you!

Bless your heart!! Pink eye, and anything with your eyes are the worst! (I haven't even noticed a bunch of sunglasses pictures, though!)

This really is THE cutest outfit. I like that it really does look like a dress.

What a beautiful skirt! And I love the shoulder bag. Glad your pink eye is gone. It's funny that you couldn't wait to put on mascara again. I wear my shades on my posts sometimes because I'm too lazy to wear eye makeup.

Sorry about your recent pink eye, those are the worst. I can't stand not seeing correctly during those times (I wear contacts, older prescription glasses). Anyway, cute skirt. I couldn't believe you pulled off sandals in a "maxi" item. You look great! And thank you for hosting Random Wednesday . Rachel xo

They are so cute. I am 4'10" so none of them ever look right on me. Make me look even shorter and I sure don't need that lol

I'm much more suited to an A-line hit at the knee dress. I love the maxis though but when I try them on I look like a dumpster. hahaha

Love that print, and the feeling of spring! Glorious. I can't wait to feel that. It could still be a while up here.

So pretty! I love maxi dresses & skirts, but finding one for my short body can be hard. I love trying different brands/stores to find the perfect length

Ok, so question....high school girls have been maxi skirts for about a year now...I was thinking of buying one, but I'm a notorious "late adopter" of fashion trends....you are thinking they will stay in style for this spring/summer?

Ugh, yes, I have had contacts for about 3 years and have had pink eye like once a year since getting them and I never had it before that SO frustrating! Glad you are doing better, though. I hear you on the "I just bought this a week ago and I already can't link to it?!" nonsense! Also frustrating! But glad you had some perfect spring weather to brighten things up!

I love all of these skirts and the prints! Last summer I stole one of my moms skirts from one of her high school dances and it could be straight off the F21 shelves. I love it so much and love that it's vintage!
