You guys! I know my pictures today are not the sharpest, clearest and may look a little fuzzy, but I just had to post them.

It's not just because this is one of my favorite little combos I whipped up thanks to Kiki La'Rue and Wallis, but because my oldest muffin-head took these photos of me.

Yes, you read right, my eight-year-old was my photographer. Not too shabby for a munchkin behind the lens.

You see, I wore this yesterday while we were out running errands, doing some back to school shopping and having girl time. Ross (aka husband) (aka photographer) had a last minute work function which meant I was out of luck for a quick photo shoot. Enter my eldest child. Her and my youngest are typically at said photo shoots and are well aware of what dad does when he takes photographs of mom.

Ross wasn't going to be home in time for "magic hour", so I asked Logan if she thought she could handle the challenge, taking pictures of mom for the blog. She exceeded my expectations.

This became more than her just snapping pictures of me. It was magical. She took it very serious, posed me, told me where to stand, fixed my jewelry and without hesitation let me know when I wasn't looking "cute" (her words, not mine). I was blown away by her expertise and how literal she took her job.

She was incredibly proud of herself and I was too. It was a moment that we had together, where she felt like she contributed to something big and I felt like I gave her confidence by trusting her with something she knew was important to me. It was a moment that was talked about well into bedtime.

She was beaming with pride. Ross and I made sure to reiterate numerous times how well she did and how proud we were of her. This may seem like something small to many of you, but for us, it was another unexpected lesson in raising kids. It's simple; include them in what you do outside of typical family activities and let them take the driver's seat every now and then. Sometimes giving a little control, responsibility and the feeling like they are in charge for once means more than you would ever expect. To me, it shows that you trust and believe in them.

I might be partial, but I think she produced phenomenal work and we just may have a future photographer on our hands.

P.S. Don't forget you can get 10% off your Kiki La'Rue purchase when you use the code SSaidSo10 at checkout.

That is so funny. She did a great job! I don't think my oldest is up to the challenge yet. I tried to get him to use my iphone to do a video of me doing a tap step and he got just my feet (which was FINE with me!) but bounced around a little. Not bad for a 4 year old though. I love your fun top! Cute look for running around.

Oh, I love that! My eldest is 7 and does mine sometimes in a pinch with my phone. She can't quite hold up the big camera and press the button yet. She does the same thing though- telling me what to do, etc.

I love that top! The photos are gorgeous!

And thank you for commenting on my blog! I'm ordering the polish and the boots!

I love, love, love the top and your necklace. I've had my 6 year old niece and my 7 year old daughter take my photos for my blog, but not with my DSLR camera. I'd like to cultivate London's interest in photography so perhaps with the aid of a tripod I can let her play around with my camera. Tell Logan she did great! You look fabulous.
