My Fashion Night Out

Blazer: Forever 21 | Top: Lauren Conrad for Kohls | Pants:Eilleen Fisher | Shoes: Michael Antonis | Clutch: Forever 21         Earrings: Charlotte Russe | Ring: Forever 21 | Necklace: Thrifted

I wore this last Thursday for Fashion Night Out. One of my girlfriends and I headed to Saks Fifth Avenue to get the scoop on some of the fall fashion must haves. I don't know why I tortured myself. I mean, I really can't afford anything from Saks expect MAC makeup, maybe a small coin purse and a pair of socks. It was still fun pretending that I was bringing home a pair of burgundy, t-strap Jimmy Choos or a $5,000 Gucci purse. Nothing spectacular went on at the store except for some Deep Eddy Vodka cocktails, mini cupcakes and a girl swinging on a suspended circle.

And oh, how could I forget about the gay Gucci guy. He was the highlight of the night. This boy worships Gucci, knows about every collection that has existed, even dating back to the Grace Kelly days. He told us about one of his clients that scored a Gucci bag at a resale store for $600 and then  had it appraised. Guess what it's worth now? $11,000!!!! That's when he proceeded to tell us that Gucci is an investment and every woman should own one. Yes, I understand that sir, but every woman can't afford one, including this here girl. I mean, I am totally sold, but there wasn't going to be any cash exchanged that evening or anytime in the near future.

Anyway, enough about the Gucci guy. Some of the trends that were on repeat throughout the store were, in no particular order:

Exotic Prints (leopard, snake skin, fish skin)
Burgundy and Emerald Green (jewel tones in general)
T-Strap Shoes
Scarf Inspired Prints
Sequins and Sparkle
Brocade
Embellished Everything
Menswear for Woman (think wing tipped shoes, fitted jackets and cigarette pants)

I am pretty set with most of these, but am lacking a few embellishments in my life. So, off I go. I am thinking a studded bag of sorts. Bags don't have to be taken to the dry cleaners, you know?

IMO, this season's trends are all pretty fabulous, except for the crazy, platform tennis shoes I keep seeing in so many magazine. I can say with 100% confidence, you ladies will NEVER see me in these.

Tell me, what fall trends are you leaning towards?

**Please take a moment today and remember all those that lost their lives and were directly affected on this day 11 years ago. We will never forget.

I can't imagine being able to spend that one a purse! I wish I could've participated in FNO. I'm pretty sure if it is after 6:00 I'm in sweatpants just about every night! love your pink blazer!

This look is absolutely to die for on you. I love that the blazer has such a relaxed fit but a really bold color. I have been on the hunt for gold chain jewelry at a good price so that is sooo lucky that you thrifted your necklace. And gucci? Hah! I think they're nice but not at all worth the amount of money you spend on them. 90% of the cost is for the brand alone!

Fashion night out? I'm so jealous! Prettttty sure Green Bay would never have one of those. An $11,000 valued purse, I mean, really? That is more than my wedding ring costed -- you'd have to insure that baby! haha

Love this look!! I am loving the scarf inspired pieces and of course the patterned pants!

Yeah those shoes aren't really my style either... Hey, we can chip in together to buy a bag and you can have it for half of the year and I can have it for the other half. On second thought, maybe I will use the money as a down payment on a car... Love your outfit by the way. At least you have FNO. My town is so backwards we don't have one...

Dying over your shoes!! Love them! You look amazing my friend. I could never spend that much on a bag! My co-worker keeps telling me I need a Chanel bag but I'm pretty sure Robert would be soooo mad.

How hot are you?? Love the blazer!! I feel the same way about the bag!! Just think all the things you could do for that money!! Sounds like a blast at FNO!!

Totally digging your outfit for FNO! And the gay Gucci guy had to be a hoot. I would love to own something Gucci one day, but alas, I too cannot afford it.

I cannot understand those sneaker heels!! Crazy! But I am excited for snakeskin items as well as burgundy.

Haha, I'm with you on those shoes--they won't be happening over here either. I went to Halls, a ridiculously expensive dept. store here for FNO Thursday, and I also laughed to myself knowing I wouldn't be able to buy anything at that store! Anyway, you looked fantastic, and I'm sure no one could tell you weren't going to buy one of everything at Saks!

Yeah don't we all wish we could "invest" in something that costs an arm & a leg!!! That pink is sooo adorable on you!! Love it with your whole outfit and that necklace is so cute :) xoxo

I'm loving the jewel tones! If I could afford a Gucci purse I would own one for sure! I think I would rather save my money and go on vacation :)

Yeah not a big fan of the platform sneaker thing. Eek.

Gucci guy sounds hilarious but somewhat mind-numbing at the same time! It sounds like an entertaining night!!!

Cute blazer pretty lady!!! I didn't buy a single thing either for FNO. I wish I could of left with Jimmy Choos too, that would be amazing!!! I agree about those platform tennis shoes, I would not be caught dead in those! What was the person thinking who designed those?? crazy! Hope you have a great day girl! xoxox

This might be one of my favorite outfit posts ever! I have a blazer just like that :-) And those shoes...those shoes are AMAZING! I'm trying not to shop so I'm pretending to ignore fall trends, but I did pick up a couple pairs of colored skinnies from old navy.

I have always wondered if I could afford things like that if I would buy them. The most I ever spent on a bag was a $400 Kate Spade and I love it. It sounds like FNO was amazing!

You look GORGE Shanna! Clearly you don't need a Gucci bag to look beautiful ;) I'm really excited about all the fall trends too -- Brocade is at the top of my list as are jewel tones.
And I am warming up even more to those sneakers. What.Is.Wrong.With.Me?? lol. Is it that they are so ugly they are the ultimate fashion challenge?? I don't know!! A little cray over here!

Oh I do love this pink blazer on you!!!!

I need to go to a FNO. Sounds so great!!

I agree...I need some embellished "stuff" too!

Love your outfit--and what I really love is how you make affordable pieces look like a million bucks! ;) I'm loving all of the fall trends, embellish it up I say!

This sounds like such a fun night! Saks is so fun to walk around, but a store like Nordstrom is more my night out but still an occasional snap up kind of store. It's not quite as elusive.

I want to raid your closet.

Jamie said...

Yeah, Saks wouldn't be the best pick for me either - too expensive! However, you looked fabulous! I love that pink blazer and I've been looking for a sheerish shirt like the one you wore - I think I'll be checking out Kohl's for one after seeing yours!!

Aww I love wedge sneakers. They are comfortable but also a little more put together then wearing regular ol' sneakers.

So pretty Shanna! And I just love the shoes.
I agree with gay gucci guy. I do have a gucci bag and I consider it an investment piece. Something I can hand down one day! Now, I had to wait until my 40th so there is still LOTS of time for you my friend! :) xo
