Surprises

how to mix stripes and floral

This past weekend was nothing short of amazing, pure bliss and full blessings. The weather was icing on the two cakes we relished in. I'll get to the cake part in a second. I mean, I have always been proud to call Texas my home...forever, but the warm, spring before spring, temperatures reminded me once again why I LOVE this state. Nothing but sunshine, breezes and espadrille shoes. I have a feeling the whole groundhog seeing his shadow does not apply to Texas. Fingers crossed.

Moving on, I mentioned on Friday that my dad was celebrating a milestone birthday. I couldn't give too much away in my post just in case my dad decided to read here...which I am sure he didn't, but I couldn't take the risk.

Over the last two months, my mom, sister and brother and I have been planning a surprise party for him. We told lots of white lies, schemed behind his back and had numerous secret emails, texts and phone calls. It was so hard keeping it under wraps and threatening the grand kids to NOT spill the beans. Ha!! Landry, my youngest, almost blew our cover a few times. I don't think I've said "Zip it, lock it and put it in your pocket", that many times in all my years.

Anyway, all went off without a hitch and my dad was 100% completely surprised. He had NO IDEA!!! Mission accomplished.

It was a weekend none of us will forget. Family and friends that came out to celebrate my dad were mind blowing. Tears were shed, stories were told, laughter was in full force and love and hugs were overflowing.

Every now and again, I get down in the dumps about silly, petty, small potato scenarios, but when weekends like this take place, everything is pulled back into perspective. I am once again reminded how blessed and lucky I truly am. At the end of the day, sharing moments, milestones and memories with people that genuinely love and support you no matter what are the true ingredients to a wondrous life. I fully intend to savor this weekend for the rest of my days. Once again, happy birthday, Dad! We all love you and what you stand for and believe in. Thank you for your generous grace, endless love, constant support, unselfish kindness, gentle heart and always believing in us regardless of our mistakes. Here's to many, many more.

I also have to mention that Target once again brought their A game with these cap toe espadrille flats. I bought them in both black and cream. My motto, when you find something adorable and affordable...you buy it in two colors. I am obsessed and wore BOTH pair over the weekend. They fit true to size and are crazy comfy. Right now, I think they are only available online, but hopefully will will hit stores soon.

I will leave you with some precious moments from the weekend. How cute is my dad and his buzz cut? God, I LOVE this man and his sweet soul.

Have a great week! Thanks a million for not only coming here for style ideas, but for taking time to read through snippets of my life. xoxo
