Romper Confessionals

Okay. Okay. Finally.

Finally, I found a romper that wasn't too short or cheeky for my body frame. I have seen so many adorable styles in stores, magazines and on blogs, but every one I tried on in the past made me tear up when I looked in the mirror. I had all but give up until the day I wasn't even looking.

I was at Nordstrom last week to shop their Anniversary Sale (see my top picks here) and found this Topshop floral romper on crazy sale. At first I thought it was a dress. I was so close to putting it back on the rack when I realized it was actually a romper. I am so thankful a little voice inside my head shoved me into the fitting room. What?! This little number can actually disguise itself as a dress? Sign me up.

Topshop Floral Romper // Forever 21 Tote // Forever 21 Wedges (option here and here) // Forever 21 Necklace (option here and here) // Target Fedora (option here) // Alex and Ani Bangles c/o The Jeweler's Wife // La Mer Watch c/o // Wrenn Jewelry Ring c/o // Gorjana Ring c/o

SHOP THE LOOK

I really stopped into Nordstrom for their annual sale, but because it is still so crazy, blazing hot here in Texas, I passed on a few in-store Fall purchases and opted for a piece I can throw on during the day, wear to the pool over my swimsuit and most importantly pack for our California adventures next week.

I swear, this is the MOST comfortable and lightweight piece of clothing I have purchased in a really long time. Between us, I feel like I am not wearing anything at all. It's that GOOD. It also gets triple points for not wrinkling, having a pom-pom trim and less than $25. Oh, and not being booty short.

In case you are wondering about the sizing; I am wearing a medium because that was the only size left. I think I could have gotten away with a small in my upper and middle areas, but being 5'7", I think the smaller size would have been too short.

Don't forget the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale ends August 4th. There are plenty of Fall pieces to grab early or go ahead and live in the Summer season and score some crazy good deals. Happy shopping!

It does look breezy and cool, a great idea for the heat. I have a romper that's quite a tight fit and it's really not suitable for hot days! I wear it in the cooler seasons with tights instead. Thanks for hosting! P x

I would have never guessed that was a romper, I totally thought it was a dress. And you are right it is nearly impossible to find a good romper that doesn't show half of your butt-cheeks! $25 GOOD BUY!!

You look really nice in this outfit, and you can tell that you are comfortable. Plus, even with chunky wedges it doesn't look too over the top!

I ave not jumped on the romper bandwagon yet. I think I may be too old:( But my daughter has several and has been wearing them almost every day this summer. I think this one looks like a summer dress, so that may work for me! I love the pattern! you look great in everything(: Susan

Rompers are like jumpsuits they are the holy grail in fashion when it comes to getting the look right. I love jumpsuits and rompers but I'm the same size and height as you and it is hard to find one that doesn't show off too much thigh and beyond.

Great find! It looks so cute on you!

That's a really interesting pattern on that romper. I like it! And bonus points for not being booty short ;-) Also love your necklace!

That is the cutest romper! I love the print, very unique. You're right, it could pass for a cute little dress. I like the fact that it's more flowy on the bottom. Thanks for hosting! ~Cynthia

Ugh I've had the same unfortunate luck with rompers. I just can't seem to find one that it isn't, well, terrible. I love this one on you! Such a great find!

The timing on this is perfect! I just posted a roundup of American Made rompers - now if I only had the confidence to wear one out of my house. You look amazing in this one!

I have had the same problem! I literally have sent back 3 rompers this summer due to them being too short or "cheeky" Im 5'6" which is isnt that tall, so who are supposed to wear these things??! Lol, you look adorable in yours...glad you found one that fits! XOXO

So pretty! And I hear you...I bought a romper and it ended up in Izzy's closet after one wear. Which happened to be at the beach + pretty much the only place I could ever have worn it!

Princess Audu said...

Nice romper, I love the print and the loose fit. The hat is just perfect for this look.

Sarah Tucker said...

This is seriously the first romper I have seen that I think I could wear. The other ones I have tried on always have a band around the waste, but unless you are the perfect size/height, the band grabs you and an unflattering spot. Love this my friend!

I grew a butt this year, so rompers are now harder to find (no one wants a free show!) haha this one is perfect though!

such a cute romper, I need to get myself to a store so I can find one too, they don't really have any online...that I can find at least. :)

It's cute!! It's funny because a co worker recommended Nordstroms when I mentioned I might want a romper. I still don't own one and I have a Vegas trip coming up so....this might be the perfect time to hunt one down. I've never even tried one on. I'm the same height as you.

At first I couldn't find a single romper I liked. I also avoided them because I didn't think they were going to stick around. Fast forward a year later and I am completely obsessed, haha!

Totally relate to how you felt about rompers. I was very skeptical at first as I struggled to find a romper that was stylish and classy; but when I did, I became such a fan :-) Yours Shanna is super cute and I love clothing pieces that have a bit of mystery it's a dress, no it's a romper :) Very cool! As always I adore the jewelry you wore with it. Have a lovely Wednesday, XOXO, Elif

Cuuuuuute romper! I totally agree that a great romper is so hard to find. Especially when you are even remotely tall and well, you don't want to resemble a teenager going out to the club :) You look great, Shanna!
