Hearts and Lace

Today I am teaming up with Kacie from Kacie's Kloset to give you ladies a little Valentine's Day outfit inspiration. I have been reading Kacie's blog for over a year now and her style is one of my favorites. She is always so classic, chic and on point with the looks she put together.

Kacie opted for a more edgy and sophisticated look that would be perfect for a Valentine's Day dinner with girlfriends or significant other. I kept my style more for daytime wear that's ideal for the office or a lunch date.

Kiki La Rue Cardigan c/o // Gap Outlet Dress (option here and here) // Xhiliration Chambray (option here and here) // Luxe Craving Necklace (option here and here) // Charlotte Russe Boots (option here and here) // Forever 21 Clutch (option here and here) // Target Bracelet // Forever 21 Belt (option)

We don't have any big plans for Friday other than two parties at the girls' school. We were going to try and squeeze in a quick date at noon, but one of the parties start at 12:15 PM. No worries. Honestly, we don't make that big of a deal out of Valentine's. Now days, it's more for the kids and to drool over all the adorable gift guides and virtual outfits you ladies have put together over the last few weeks.

Ross and I have plenty of other times during the year when we get away for the day/night alone. I can't handle all the crowds and stress of making reservations anyway. I don't expect roses, diamonds, gourmet meals or over the top mushy stuff. However, I do need one dozen chocolate covered strawberries. It's a tradition and traditions can't be broken.

**If you are linking up today, the only request is that you follow my blog with GFC or Bloglovin' and link back to it in your post. It's how weekly link ups work. Oh, and go meet some new friends!

I love all the layers in your Valentine's look! I'm not one for going overboard with the V-day but my boyfriend likes to plan and surprise me, so I don't mind being spoiled haha

2 of my most favorite bloggers in one post, both looking adorably sweet and perfect for VDay. Love your cardigan & dress and Kacie's Jacket & Skirt. I love Blogger Collaborations. I am doing a Blogger Collab post on Friday, also, for VDay. And I agree about chocolate-covered strawberries.

Check out how I styled my Hot Pink Grandpa Cardigan, today. Thanks. =)

No big plans for us this weekend either. I choose to stay home and rent a family movie on Net Flicks! We cherish the time that we have our daughter at home, so dates can come later(: I love this sweater layered over the dress - super cute! And Kacie always looks amazing (love her hair)! Susan

So cute! I have a red dress that I now totally have re-styled due to this post. Thank you!!

I'm the same way, we do more for the kids for Valentine's Day more than anything and I just want some small treat like pink ballet flats or macarons. :)

I hate going out on VDay b/c of the crowds. We go out all the time! MFD loves going to dinner always. We compromised and said if we weren't snowed in we'd go to the diner and eat with the other old people. hahaha

Alissa said...

I refuse to go out on Valentine's because I hate dealing with the people. Plus I feel bad for waitstaff who have to deal with the masses of in love and horrible customers!

Can anyone be cuter than both of you ladies????? Love your pretty heart filled cardigan Shanna & so adorbs that you layered in and put in a punch of orange via the dress!! Happy VDay sweetie.....enjoy!!!

Love the chambray layered under the dress...so cute! I'm going out for dinner this Valentine's Day–luckily i think there are SO many restaurant options in NYC that where I'm headed won't be too overwhelming!

I'm with you...I just can't with the Valentine crowds. But I'm all for a little festive attire and I love the looks you and Kacie put together. Thank you for hosting a great linkup! -Gina

We are the same...nothing fancy or overblown for Valentine's Day. Matt used to make me mix tapes every year when we were dating :) I love chocolate covered strawberries! Maybe that should be our new tradition!!

You girls both look so scrumptiously sweet! I love your subtle take on a V Day outfit, Shanna. It says "I acknowledge and appreciate Valentine's Day and don't need to dress like a doily to prove it." :)

Charles and I are laying low too this Valentine's. We don't place that much importance on the day in general. But if we were going out, I feel like I would pull your button down, hearts cardigan and boots together with some jeans and add in Kacie's jacket and my outfit would be made haha! Love how you ladies are collaborating with each other. It's great to see the different looks side by side :)

You look so adorable! We don't make a big deal out of vday either. And actually on our first vday together, Tom made me chocolate covered strawberries that were amazing. So this year I obviously requested them again and blamed it on the baby. He can't say no to the baby. Looks like me and you will be enjoying some good ol' chocolate strawberries on friday! :)

First of all, you ladies look great. These are perfect looks for day and night. Love! Second, I agree with you about V Day. I don't like the pressure and all that of being romantic that ONE day, I'd rather do fun stuff for the kids and then snuggle up on the couch at night;)

Sarah said...

Love your sweater! black and white heart sweater, love it! We do the same as you for V-day, although we do get each other cards, and usually he picks something out for me, but what do you get a guy who has everything? This year, he "bought" me a necklace from the Stella and Dot party I went to last week, haha!

I was starting to think I was the only one who did not like the big fuss about the 14th, we too celebrate so much the rest of the year that we like to stay away from busy " traditiona;" places. I sure would like to have that cardigan for the office though.

Stinkin Adorable!! I love the heart sweater--and pair just about anything with Chambray these days and I am in love :) Great look girl--hope you have a fab V-day--sometimes low-key is the best!

Both of you look great! I love the navy cardigan with the orange dress! And we aren't too big on Valentine's Day either, especially since our anniversary was just last week. I guess that's a good thing since my poor hubby is driving home from NJ that night and won't get home until 11 pm!
