I Wonder...

Dress: Forever 21 (recent, but not online) | Boots: Charlotte Russe | Clutch (similar), Earrings, Rings, Bracelet: Forever 21

It's a wondering kind of day. Bear with me.

1. I wonder if there are any other fashion bloggers out there that "recreate" outfits. I wore this a few weeks ago to a magazine launch in Austin. I posted it on Instagram and a few friends said they wanted to see the full thing on the blog. I didn't get any pictures that night. So, ta-da and viola, I did a reenactment. FYI, Ross does not like this dress. He says it looks like a sequined nightgown. Thoughts?

2. I wonder if I have a slight gift of ESP. Okay, don't roll your eyes. I am being serious. It happens all the time. I will get a weird feeling about something or someone and BOOM, I get an email or phone call and find out something DID happen. Or I will dream about someone and within that week, I will run into them at a store, they get brought up in conversation or I get an email/phone call from them. I am not saying that I am clairvoyant, but I do sometimes feel that I have a little bit of a sixth sense. Does this ever happen to you?

3. I wonder why all my thoughts, ideas, additions to my "to do" list and things that I mustn't forget all come upon me like a tidal wave when I am in bed trying to go to sleep. I swear, it happens every single night and I am too lazy to get up and write them down. If I got up to write down everything that comes to mind, I would be back and forth out of bed at least a dozen times. So, I always tell myself, "Don't forget this in the morning." And what do you know, most of what ran through my mind eight hours earlier has been completely erased from my brain. Any tips on how to not forget what my brilliant ideas were right before I went to sleep?

4. I wonder why doors on houses open to the inside instead of to the outside. I mean think about it. Most commercial and store front doors open out; why are houses different? I bought the "most perfect jute rug" at World Market last night to put in my entry, but it's too thick and blocks my door from opening all the way. If the dang door swung the other way, it would be a non-issue and I would have conquered my never ending search for the "most perfect jute rug". Now I am off to return yet another rug to another store and then head to another store to find the "most perfect jute rug". Wish me luck.

What have you been wondering about these days?

oooh, I am soo glad you recreated this look! I LOVE it, Love it. And this weekend I shall have to get me some of those booties. I swear, you can always count on CharRue!

Notebook by the side of the bed with a little reading light so you can jot it down is the best bet! I do it for time to time when things just won't stop swirling around my head.

I think the dress is fun and I love how you paired it with ankle boots! I've had one experience where I dreamed about something very specific and random happening, and years later it actually happened and was a really astonishing case of deja vu. It's only happened once, but definitely made me reconsider my thoughts on ESP-ish type events!

love, love, love the dress!!!!

Love this look, and the touches of suede are fabulous! You are just precious, girl :)

I use the calendar on my phone while it is charging on the nightstand to jot down "things to do" ideas that come to me before falling asleep.

Commercial doors open out by law for emergency egress reasons. Residential doors open inward for safer dismounting my thieves and for easier installation of screen or storm doors. Can you tell that my day job is an architect?! :)

love the dress...men know nothing about dresses btw! Interesting fact...front doors in Florida actually do open out...having something to do with a hurricane. I think I would like my door to open out too..have the same rug issue.

For the record, I absolutely love that dress. So much so that I may have to trek to all the Forever 21s in the bay area until I find it. It's so pretty!

I think the dress is cute! Boys never understand fashion or why we spend so much money on it!

As far as your thoughts at night, it seems like thats when our brains slow down enough from the other stuff during the day to actually remember the random stuff. I keep a notepad and a pen next to my bed to scribble a note to myself if I think of something that I must remember.

Never thought about the door thing...interesting!

Okay, first things first I absolutely LOVE this dress and am so glad you recreated the outfit!! I don't think it looks like a nightgown at all. Those booties are to die for and I must get some stat! Second, I always have issues with thinking of lists of things I need to remember at night. I've tried to put a pen and notepad next to the bed but I still don't want to turn on the lamp to jot things down....ugh! Lastly, I completely agree with the doors opening to the inside. It has prevented me from buying so many great rugs! I bought one at West Elm that is great and not too thick and also a few from pottery barn. Then ones from PB are thinner and have a colored edging (in my kitchen) and I think these would look just great by a front door. I've also had them for over two years and they haven't snagged or shown wear either! Good luck!!

I love that dress!! it is WAY cuter than a nightgown. ;) and like your one about the door. I wonder that with bathroom stalls.

I think doors open in on houses because you are inviting someone in. Maybe? I don't know.

I think you dress is super cute! I love the sparkles and it doesn't look anything like a nightgown!

And I think it's very possible to have slight ESP! Have a great weekend, Shanna!

I love this dress!! But then again I'm a sucker for anything sparkly.

I do the same thing. Every night I think of tons of things I have to do. I keep sticky notes and a pen by my bed so I can write ideas down without having to get up.

I love this dress! I bought three shirts the other day and they were all sequined...I think I have a serious problem!

I love this dress. It's like a tshirt, but sparkly! #1 was spot on. If I wore an outfit I loved, but didn't get pictures for whatever reason, then I usually repeat it within a few weeks and make sure to get pictures. Conversely on days I know I won't get pictures, I repeat outfits that have already made it onto the blog.

I love the dress!! I love that you paired it with some low ankle booties. Great look!

I like the dress! My hubby sometimes doesn't like the trendier things I wear either. I wore my ankle boots yesterday and got so many compliments on them - they instantly update any outfit. Btw, I've been guilty of recreating an outfit for the simple fact that I didn't get any picture of me in it the first time.

I love the dress! It is not a nightgown!!I always think I will wear ankle boots with a dress and never do. I love that you have worn them and that purse is great too. The whole look is gorgeous!

I think I have a sixth sense too. It runs in my family. Have you asked anyone in your family if they are this way? My Mom has dreams that come true, my great-grandmother read tea leaves and I see dead people. Yes, just like the movie. I was a lot like that kid. Now that I have kids and am super busy it doesn't happen so much. Often I think of someone and then the same thing as you happens. I think it is totally normal.

I LOVE this dress on you! It's a beautiful sparkly gem!

So, residential doors open in because the hinges need to be placed inside (makes it harder for intruders) while commercial doors open out for emergency reasons (easier for people to get out of the building). I know, I'm such a nerd! :)

I have wondered many times if I have ESP as well. The SAME thing happens to me all the time. It's the weirdest feeling. It's cool...but way weird. I also am pretty sure that I've been spoken to during a period of time when I shut my eyes and am in between falling asleep and still awake. Yea...be glad that hasn't happened to you. lol...hello, weird Lori. :)
And about the dress...I love it. Cute on you for sure. In my experience, hubbies just don't "get it" sometimes. No matter how cool they think they are! haha!

1. I'm wondering how Ross doesn't like that dress? I immediately swooned!! (I'm also wondering how you manage to always be SO darn cute!!)
2. I have ESP too! Big time.
3. Use the "notes" section in your phone when you have thoughts in bed. It's a great tool!
4. LOVE those boots! I'm buying some ASAP! Thanks Shanna!

Jamie said...

1. Yes, I do re-create outfits sometimes if I wear them one day and there's no one around to take pictures! And I do not think your dress looks like a nightgown! I think it's really cute!

2. Remembering stuff before bed and then forgetting it in the morning ALWAYS happens to me! Sometimes, when I'm being smart, I'll jot it down in a note/reminder on my phone!

Happy Friday!

Sarah said...

1. I love the dress, you look great!
2. I think I have ESP sometimes too. And lately it's been going the other way...if I write a plan or something down it doesn't happen...like something crazy comes up and it has to be cancelled. It's really screwing with me considering I live and die by my planner but haven't been able to use it.
3. The doors are an egress thing...in commercial buildings you want people to be able to get out as quickly as possible if theres an emergency. See, Ma school did pay off!

Angie said...

Love the dress with the boots, too darn cute!! And a big fat yes to numbers 2 and 3!! I definitely have that sixth sense and I have the most amazing ideas and thoughts while I am lying in bed at night...only to be forgotten the next morning. glad I'm not the only one! Have a great weekend, Shanna!

Audrey @ Putting Me Together said...

Sheesh, Shanna...you are way too dang cute. I think you look SLAMMIN in the dress! To your wonderings: 1) Yes. Plus, why waste a great outfit on just one wear? 2) I'd be inclined to call that a little prophetic, not just ESP. :)

I love this outfit! It can be glammed up or toned down for date night. And girl, did you really have 2 kids, you are TINY!! SKINNY!

So if you are clairvoyant...can you please tell me the winning numbers to the lottery so I can quit my job and hire a masseus haha

Love the dress! Anything with sequins is a win in my book. And I totally recreate outfits all the time! Unfortunately my photographer, aka my husband, leaves for work before the sun comes up and doesn't get home until dark which means he can't take photos of my outfits :-( So I have to put them all on again over the weekend to take pics!

Um ok I have 100 things to say but I'll try to keep it to 3. 1. LOVE this dress and I am getting my little butt to a F21 this weekend and hoping to all that is Holy they have it. 2. I haven't recreated outfits yet, but I haven't quite found my niche yet with the fashion blogging thing so I'm sure I will get there. I've definitely thought about it. And 3. I have this same slight ESP that you mention. I have dreams or feelings, and they end up happening. Not all the time and usually only about pretty big events, like, sadly, my dog dying (NOT recently!). But yeah, I totally understand where you're coming from there. Happy weekend Shanna!

I really like this dress. Of course the sequins are fabulous, but the loose shape of it makes it look very chic.

The question on my mind lately is why do baby clothes skip the 15 month size? You have 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months and 18 months. Logically, you should have a 15 month in there. This is the kind of thing that keeps me up at night.

Gai said...

You're a Christian, right? So that "6th sense" is actually the Holy Spirit working in your life and your thoughts. Bringing people to mind to focus on them in prayer or action. Thank God for that---we all need to pay attention to the work of the Spirit. I'm glad it is so present in you!

Such great giveaways!! Ha ha, Ross is crazy because this dress is STUNNING!!! I have the same problem as you at night, except I wake up around 3am or 4am thinking about all the things I have to do at work that day. I keep a note pad and pen on my night stand to write it down. I find that as soon as I write it down, I'm able to forget about it and go back to sleep.

I'm glad you recreated- I definitely wanted to see the whole thing!!! I love that dress!

I was just talking about the ESP thing with my girlfriends this weekend- it happens to me a lot, too. I just sense things...sometimes it's nothing BUT sometimes I'll hear from them/about them/etc and I think it's crazy.

I have NEVER thought about the way doors open but now you've got me thinking. Why don't then open out?! I feel like it would make more sense!

meghan said...

I like your dress. Pretty. And men don't get opinions on fashion. Tim has now told me twice in the last three days, "can't you just wear something normal like a cotton tshirt? Why does it have to be fashion?"

Caitlin C. said...

First of all, I'm in LOVE with this dress. It is SO gorgeous and now I must head to Forever 21 to try to find it!!! And secondly, I ALWAYS have things running through my mind at the end of the day. Sometimes it's so bad that I can't get to sleep for a few hours because I'm just thinking of everything I need to do. I don't know how to stop it so if you find a remedy let me know!

Jamie said...

I like this dress - I think there are just things husbands will never understand in regards to fashion.

Have you tried putting a voice recorder by your bed that you can talk into when you come up with ideas? Or if you can't talk cause others are trying to sleep, you could use your phone to jot down notes, but then you'd have to leave it on all night. Just a few ideas. :)

I am a huge fan of leopard print, especially big prints and then when you add sequins... I'm in love! Adorable!!

I don't necessarily "re-create" outfits... but I often will repeat an outfit that I loved the first time again, if I can wear it to a completely different event. I love this leopard dress (you look FAB-ulous!), and all my ideas come to me right as I am closing my eyes too!

Love this look! And no, it does not look like a sequined pajama outfit...although my hubby would probably agree with yours. ;) And does ESP with relation to cops and the Oscar Meyer Weiner Mobile count?? Dead serious. ;)
And keep a note pad next your bed...great for those middle of the night thoughts...also, I have to sleep on my tummy so that I can shut my brain down. If I stay on my back, the thoughts just keep rolling. But if I physically roll over, they stop. I'm weird. I know. ;)
