Old to New

Everything I am wearing in today's post is something I have owned for quite awhile except for the necklace and tote. Even though I have added several new items to my fall and winter wardrobe, I enjoy going back to my favorite, tired and true pieces and styling them new ways. Since I began my blogging journey, I have become more conscious about what I buy and make sure that the majority of things that come home with me can be worn more than once or twice. 

Having this mentality has helped broaden my closet options as well as save money. Plus, it's almost like a personal challenge...how can I wear (insert item) in a different way and create an entirely new, fresh look. Usually all it takes is a few accessories like a piece of jewelry, bag or pair of shoes to breathe new life into something old.

SHOP A SIMILAR STYLE

I personal news, this weekend was JUST what I needed. Friday night I took my girls out on a date to Cracker Barrel (fancy, I know) and then to the dollar movie (again super fancy) to see Dolphin Tale 2. It was soooooo good and I may have cried at the end. Then we snuggled up in my bed and had a slumber party while Ross was out of town.

Saturday our friends hosted a "football & friends" get together. These girls, their husbands and kids are our extended family. Kids and babies were everywhere - crying, peeing in corners (no joke), grabbing stuff they shouldn't be grabbing, crying, drooling, spitting up, playing in a bouncy house during the rain, making messes, crying, hitting each other over the head, tattle telling, crying, laughing, playing, giggling, crying some more and having the time of their lives. And guess what? So were we. 

My oh my, times have changed. Our Saturday nights aren't like they used to be, but a chaotic peace set over me. At one point, I looked around the house, witnessed some of my best friends' kids bonding with my own and couldn't help but smile regardless of the ruckus. Isn't it funny how sometimes all the crazy noise that surrounds us ends up giving us the most serenity and security?

Blistering Blues + JTV Giveaway

What in the world is going on around here? I have lived in Texas all of my life and I cannot remember the last time the temps have gotten down into the 30's in November. I swear, typically this time of year people are still wearing flips flops and shorts.

I must admit I have been LOVING every single minute of it. I actually feel in spirit of the upcoming holidays and all things that come with the fall and winter months. Speaking of finally purchasing the first Christmas gift of the year and pushing full steam ahead, I wanted to share a great, one-stop jewelry shopping site.

My friends at JTV invited me to select a piece from their site and I chose this moonstone and aqua stack ring. I knew I would get a ton of wear out of it. If you know me, you know I love stacking rings or the illusion of them being layered.

Plaid and Check #OOTD Recreate

Over the last few weeks I've been trying to "get dressed" every day. For some reason, it seems to make my days more productive when I pull off my PJs and put actual clothes on. As most of you know, I am a SAHM and work part-time for myself (this blog). It's so easy to stay in my leopard fuzzy slippers, comfy flannel pants and an old t-shirt from college, especially since some days I don't have a particular place to go or be.

I made a pact with myself and started a new routine by going to the gym in the mornings, getting dressed afterward, then either volunteering at school or running typical errands and feeling like I am going to "the office" for work. My outfits may not be your typical office attire, but they work well for my lifestyle Monday through Friday and weekends too. 

I mentioned last week that I was thinking about resurrecting Instagram #OOTD recreates, well here we are again. These posts are fun to put together and share specific pieces you can wear together or remix with items you already have in your closet.
