Easy Like Sunday Morning

Today is Monday and I wore this outfit on Friday, but all I could think of when I was writing this post was Lionel Richie's song "Easy Like Sunday Morning". This style is just that, easy. It's another basic black and tan color scheme with a punch of animal print; which is always a win in my book. I dressed up this same color palette and style idea a few weeks ago. This look is a little more on the casual side, but worked for my busy day.

Friday consisted of visiting my best friend and her new baby boy at the hospital, having a girlfriend lunch, hair appointment (still not happy and need my blonde back), errands and then a family evening with neighborhood friends in the cul-de-sac.

We started with a chill in the air and ended the exact same way. Temps in the 60's had me grabbing for this cardigan. Who cares that it warmed up a little by mid-afternoon, I was determined to dress the fall weather part...all day. Now, if Mother Nature would stop her teasing and quit playing with our emotions. Sunday definitely felt like the early side of Spring. Let's just say, cardigans weren't on the agenda.

The Dark Side

Forever 21 Tribal Print Maxi Dress

No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you and I didn't apply a filter on these photos. I crossed over to the dark side with my hair color. I went in on Wednesday and showed my girl a few pictures I had pinned on Pinterest. I was going for a "bronde" look. You know, blonde + brown. Well, folks, my crown came out "bronze" not "bronde". YIKES! I am going back today and praying that she can put something on it to tone down the red, bronze, brass, whatever you want to call it.  It's so weird that the color took how I wanted it on the rest of my hair, but for some reason the top portion thought it would play a sick hair joke on me. This is reason #247 why I am always scared to do something different to my hair. At least it's just color we are dealing with and not a bad haircut. Right?

Looking on the bright side of things, I got my Forever 21 haul delivered to my doorstep this week. I mentioned on Facebook that they were running a 30% EVERYTHING sale last week. (BTW, if you haven't liked my Facebook page yet, you might want to hop over. I post daily steals, sales and seasonal finds that I don't share on my blog.) Anyway, I got sucked in, as usual, and grabbed a handful of fall and winter pieces including this maxi dress I am wearing today. Most of the other items are for when the weather cools down, but I didn't want to take the chance of missing out if I waited.

Take a peek at what I finally decided on after spending waaaaaay too much time perusing online. I think my favorite is the faux leather shearling jacket. I tried to stick with the basics and choose items that I can remix over the next several months.

SHOP THE LOOK

I hope everyone has a great weekend. We are headed to Texas State's homecoming game on Saturday. I haven't been back to see my Bobcats play in a few years....which was actually one of the first times I really ever "watched" an entire game. Sad, but true story. Priorities were a little different back in the day.

P.S. SALE ALERT!! In case you didn't here, several styles of Hunter Boots are on sale for 20% off at Nordstrom! I am not sure how long this will last. I grabbed the black matte pair, but the gloss finish are included in the sale too!

Collecting Thoughts

fall layering idea

It doesn't happen very often, but sometimes I just don't have anything to say or write. I have a lot of thoughts running around in my head, but can't seem to sit down and focus long enough to put them to paper...or in this case, a computer screen. This week has been busy with my girls school work, volunteering, cabbing the kids around to extracurricular activities and finishing up a few home improvement projects. When I actually get those few minutes to hop on the computer, someone in my house, says screams, "MOOOOOOOOM! Come here!". It's life, people. I don't hate it.

Long story short, I really haven't had a chance to sit down, collect my thoughts or prepare a quality blog post. In all honesty, it's actually been the last thing on my priority list. Don't get me wrong, I love blogging, enjoy interacting with everyone, sharing fun fashion and outfit ideas, but "real life" has consumed most of my attention lately; as it should.

In the meantime, fall outfit inspiration on this first day of October is about as good as it's going to get today. I sincerely hope you ladies understand. I am pretty sure we have all been there a time or ten. Thanks for hanging in there with me.
