Happy Valentine's Day! I honestly had no intentions of posting another look for this little holiday of love, but Ross and I were able to squeeze in a lunch date yesterday to celebrate. Of course I couldn't resist dressing the part.

Ever since it arrived in the mail over a week ago, I have been itching for the perfect occasion to wear this skirt from Express. The cut on other full skirts are not the most flattering on my frame. I have tried on at least five and they all went straight back to the rack. I finally hit the jackpot with this one. It's true to size. It doesn't make me look like a puffy marshmallow. The side pockets are icing on the cake and length is perfect for dressing up with heels or wearing an oxford with flats for a more casual look. You know I only highly suggest buying certain pieces, ones that I truly love and think you will too. This is one of them. Full skirts are a big trend for the spring, but honestly, this one is a classic. Trend or not, it's a item that will get plenty of wear and won't lose it's spark any time soon.

As I was editing these photos, it dawned on me that I literally wore almost the exact same outfit last year for Valentine's Day. The only differences were the bottoms and scarf. Next year I plan to ditch the red and throw on some pink. I need to spice things up around here.

Nicely Neutral

Last night I met with an old and dear friend who has trusted me enough to also become my client. We spent the evening shopping and styling some looks for her upcoming vacation to Mexico (lucky girl). It ended up being a glorious day here in Austin. The sun was shining and the temps were warm enough to finally wear something other than boots or wellies. Why I didn't mimic the bright day in my outfit choice, I am not sure. What I am sure of is when I wear basic, classic pieces in neutral tones, I feel more pulled together and sophisticated, even if denim is involved.  I posted this picture on Instagram giving a glimpse of what I wore for our appointment. Because you ladies seemed to like it, I decided to round up a few similar pieces to create an almost identical look.

Speaking of denim, I am so happy that I pulled the trigger on these joggers from Forever 21. They are sold out of the darker shade that I wore yesterday, but still have them in the color shown above. They are so comfortable, lightweight, flattering and have a drawstring elastic waist. If you are interested in scooping up a pair, I would size down. I have a feeling you guys are going to be seeing plenty of them over the next several months. They are hands down my favorite piece that I have purchased so far for the upcoming season. Let me just add that spring has finally sprung around these parts. Mr. Meteorologist told me to expect 70 degree weather for the next 7 days. We will see how long it lasts. I plan to start packing up my winter gear and will be holding my breath the entire time.
