2014 Spring Footwear - 10 to Try

Winter wear has officially shifted toward the back of my brain and all things for the new season have moved to the forefront.

I have been doing my best not to purchase any new items that relate to cold weather, instead I have been stalking my favorite online retailers to see what they have in store for spring. I am a sucker for a pair of shoes especially when they make statement or become a staple piece that can be worn time and again.

I rounded up 10 footwear styles that you will see plenty of for Spring 2014. I can't wait to add a few to my closet and others I will most likely leave on the racks. 

I have been looking for a brown lace up, peep toe bootie for a solid month and came across this pair from Steve Madden. I added them to my wish list and plan on making the purchase very soon. 

I was pleasantly surprised that the chunky heel is making a comeback in 2014. I am not the biggest fan of a large block square heel, but prefer ones that are more tapered like the ones I found at Forever 21.  

Cuffs and straps at the ankle will forever be my friends. Both styles make ankles look smaller and offer support when wearing higher heels.

I haven't been able to take my eyes off the knee high gladiator sandals, but for some reason I cannot see myself personally wearing them. I love how they have been styled in magazines and on few blogs, but I would feel more comfortable in ones that come a bit lower on my legs like this Sam Edelman pair.

Leopard and Buffalo

I wore this to church yesterday morning after the temperature decided to drop 30 degrees in less than 12 hours. I walked out the door without my coat, immediately ran back into the house and grabbed the first one I spotted in our entry closet. Of course leopard, in my eyes, is always the print that outshines the rest, plus this is one of the warmest coats I own. I wasn't too sure about how well it would go with my scarf, but I ended up liking how the two patterns paired. Isn't it funny how we find new ways to coordinate accessories on a complete whim? Thank you, bipolar weather for this one. I thought I would show you guys a few shots with and without the jacket as my teeth chattered, hands went numb and hair flew in all sorts of directions.

Speaking of sucking it up despite the frigid temps, I have to give major props to every person who photographs all of us crazy bloggers. Friends, husbands, boyfriends, parents, siblings, children and any others that I missed, you guys are rock stars! Speaking from my own experience, the people behind the lens are gifts from God. Ross was just a cold as I was and never once complained yesterday. He never does. He isn't taking these pictures for himself. He is doing it for me and because he knows how much it means. Honestly, if it weren't for him and his unselfish willingness and support, I wouldn't have a blog. I know many style bloggers set up a tripod and shoot their own photos, but I don't think I would ever have the patience to learn the tricks of taking self portraits with a remote or timer. So, high fives to all of you ladies who do it. If you do have a photographer(s), be sure to let them know how much you appreciate their help. I know I tell Ross thank you at least 10 times every time.

P.S. We got to see Gus this weekend. He is a rock star and has come so far in just a few short weeks. Ross got to hunt behind him and it was amazing to watch them work as a team. Ross was smiling from ear to ear the whole time we were out in the field. We found out that Gus is graduating a week early and he is coming home in 17 more days!! It can't come soon enough!

Call me crazy or just a girl who gets caught up in any and all girly things during the month of February. The month of Valentine's Day is hands down the best for suckers like myself to fall head over heels for everything pink, red, metallic, heart imprinted, glittered embellished, Hallmark inspired and cutesy wootsy to make me feel warm and fuzzy all over. I just can't help myself. Even though Ross and I really don't get caught up in all the Valentine's Day love fest on the home front (we do that all year. LOL. Okay, maybe I am stretching that one). I for one personally get giddy looking online, in stores, on blogs and flipping through magazines when it comes to heart day decor, beauty, fashion and just for the love of it kind of stuff. I hand picked at least 50 Valentine's Day gift ideas for the lady loves in your life or even for yourself. I had a tough time narrowing it down to 20, but I think every last one of these little goodies would be a win any day of the year, not just February 14th.

I must find a way to incorporate these letters into my home, this pillow is KILLING me, one day I will own this Tory Burch bag and I think I will be adding this jewelry holder to my Forever 21 cart ASAP. You just can't beat the price and cuteness! Hey, Ross, I know we only get each other cards for Valentine's, but my feelings wouldn't be hurt if one (or a few) of these 20 items made their way into my hands. Just saying.
