Rummaging & Remixing

Bright Pink Pleated Maxi Skirt

I haven't had much time to shop lately nor have I had the desire to do so. My closet got cleaned out a few weeks ago and during the purging party, I realized, once again, that I really need to shop my closet more. I used to be pretty good at this, but feel as though I have strayed away from getting creative with pieces I already have hanging.

Honestly, if I don't have at least one new item to share I don't want to about blog it. What's wrong with me? I guess it's called style blogger-itis. It's time to make some changes. Don't get me wrong, I love to shop most of the time and add new pieces to my wardrobe, but I also need to come back down from the clouds and realize that I have plenty to play and work with.

SHOP THE LOOK

I wore this sequin crop top to a more casual gala a few months back and the pink pleated maxi skirt during a weekend family outing. I love both pieces and wanted to figure out a way to incorporate them together to create a fun daytime look. I grabbed my polka dot scarf from Forever 21 and tied it around my waist to break up the two solid pieces. I haven't done this before, but was please how it turned out. Now I know that I can wear sequins during daylight hours and get a way with it.

Yes! Style blogger-itus is a thing, and it's dangerous! I'm working on shopping my closet more, it's hit or miss goal for me (Target and Kohl's just keep calling my name!)

Loving this whole outfit! I need to learn to shop my closet more too, I get into a funk where I think I need more clothes, but if I just got a little creative I'd realize I have way too many :-P

Happy Friday!

You look fabulous! I want that maxi skirt! I should have ordered it the first time you showed it. Adorable! And I hope you shop your closet more and feature pieces that aren't new, helps a girl like me who is on a spending diet!

This is such a great reminder. I am always lured away by the idea that I "need" something new to wear, all while my closet is busting at the seams! Time for me to get to work editing my wardrobe and re-thinking what I can do with what I have.

I need to start shopping my closet more often. I recently did a closet clean out and found a few pieces that I forgot I even had. You make me want to bring them to the blog light! Thanks for always staying so real! Love today's look! That pink maxi skirt is just too cute!

Have a great weekend!

Adorable! I love the outfit. Are you still doing the "shop your closet" business?

The daytime sequins are so fun! I also always get the urge to buy something new and I definitely think it's in part to seeing so many cute things on other bloggers. Shopping your closet is much better for the wallet though!

What a great re-mix! I love the bright color of the skirt and, of course, the polka dots :) I need to start getting more creative with my clothes again. With the start of summer vacation and too much indulging in summer goodies, I have not been as motivated to dress myself. Thanks for the inspiration!! XO

I have the same problem! I need to stop buying and shop my closet too. I mean, who really cares if something has been on the blog before. 99% of readers won't remember and will probably appreciate seeing another way to wear it. I love anything bright pink and this outfit is perfect.

you are the coolest! how do you think to make outfits like this?! i love it!

Is that a real disease... because I'm pretty sure I have it, too! Haha. I always feel like I need to have new, fun pieces on the blog! I feel so terrible when everything in my outfit is old (like yesterday) and I cannot link to exact items. But you know what? i'm human and don't have a million dollars (or the closet space) to spend on clothes! Have a fabulous weekend, Shanna!

This is such a cute outfit! I LOVE that you thought to put the scarf around your waist. Not only does it break up the solids, which is great, but it also helps hide the middle a little bit which I'm always on the lookout for! Get it girl!!

Great skirt! You look fabulous and I love how you used that scarf as a belt!

I feel the same way - if I don't have a new item to highlight in a post I don't feel like putting it up! But I love to see how bloggers remix items so I need to do that more often too!

Love this super cute outfit! The sequins look so great with the bright pink. Personally, I like bloggers who remix pieces. Seems a little more realistic to the average reader, IMO.

I thought it's only me but I'm also lately going back to my blog's roots and having fun again mixing & matching stuff I already have. I love my sponsors so much but shopping from my closet brings out my "creativity" so to speak. And you really nailed it with this awesome look Shanna!
