Fall Wearings - Weekend Edition

Finally, a low key weekend. No plans. No agendas. No schedules.

Ross took Logan, our oldest to the deer lease to practice shooting her gun. Big girl has it set in her mind that she is going back next weekend to shoot her first deer, enter proud dad. (By the way, we eat all the meat.)

Landry and I, well, we cleaned the house from top to bottom, did a little shopping, ate like queens, had a slumber party, did make up tutorials, went to church and ate like queens again. It's kind of nice splitting our time with the girls. We both, Ross and I, got to spend time with them in our own special way....whether it was in a deer stand or at Target. I think they need that one-on-one time from the both of us. It all about bonding, memories and focusing on their individual personalities.

It was the first true fall weekend here in Austin. We got lots of rain, cooler temps and overcast skies. In typical, no plans fashion, I wanted to share with you what I wore on Sunday. It was filled with Texans football, running errands and being a family of four again.

This is an easy-breezy look and was oh-so comfy; perfect for running around town and adjusting to the 70 degree weather.

Did I mention that I am addicted to leather pieces this season? Yes, I think I did. This Forever 21 vest has made it's appearance three times already. No, not on the blog but in life outside of this site. It's a true fall staple that I am sure you will see again soon.

What were you guys up to this weekend? According to Instagram there was some glasses of wine, shopping, fairs and fall fun going down. Welcome to October...well tomorrow....but seriously, this is one of my favorite months of of the year! Hello??? Halloween!!!

P.S. Today marks ten years since my sweet Granny was crowned an angel in Heaven. I miss her every single day, will cherish and remember details of our time and smile when I eat a snickerdoodle cookie. She is the reason for Landry's middle name. I miss you, Granny. You are with us today and every day.

Peat and Repeat

I know...I know. You don't even have to say it. I know you are thinking it.

Shanna posted another style wearing brown, cream and black. I told you guys on Wednesday that I am okay with it. I am actually more than okay with it. It's what my taste buds are craving at this very moment. We all go through phases in our closets, shopping habits and personal style.  Lord knows I have had some definite phases, ones I would like to erase from my mind and this blog.

Right now, I am 100% stuck on simple pieces, neutral colors, basic looks, leather anything, lace details, gold accessories and leopard accents. They are all timeless, can be worn numerous ways and remind me of fall weather. Maybe that's the reasoning, I am subconsciously trying to channel sixty degree weather. Who knows? It could happen.

For all you gals looking for more color, stick with me, I am sure I will get on a color-filled kick sooner or later. Most likely later than sooner.

Anyone else out there with me? Do you have certain looks, colors and styles on indefinite repeat?
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I started this link up almost one year ago and recently strayed away from really being random. I mean, I guess anything we talk about here in blog land can fall into some sort of random category. That word can be quite relative.

Anyway, I felt like going back to the roots of this weekly blog hop and wanted to share a few things that don't relate in any way, shape or form.

Here goes....

1. This YouTube video struck about 1,000 chords with me yesterday. If you haven't heard of Dr. Dave Martin, Google him, check out his channel and get ready to be inspired, convicted and lifted. It's only a four minute video and time well spent. Woman to woman, we all need to be reminded of this one. Enjoy.

2. I had the pleasure to visit the Noonday Collection office on Monday morning. I was lucky enough to meet the marketing manager for the company a few months back through social media and then had the opportunity to hug a few ladies from Noonday in person at Texas Style Council. You guys, this company is doing glorious things all over the world. The story behind Noonday will melt your heart. Not only do they support some amazing causes, their jewelry and accessories are ones you won't find anywhere else...think cuffs made off recycled bullets.

3. Only one more payment on my car and we are FREE! I have been shelling out money towards the "Gray Goose" for almost six years. I don't know what it feels like to not have a car payment. My sweet husband is already talking about what we are getting next. I told him, "I am driving this baby until the wheels fall off."

4. I can't escape wearing or buying neutral tones these days, as evident here, here and my shopping haul here. I am trying my best to add bright colors and patterns, but I am 100% drawn to everything simple, streamlined and basic. We have discussed this issue previously, but I am finally coming to terms with the fact that I like it...I like it a lot.

5. Poor Miley....poor, poor Miley. That's all I can say about this.

6. Last but not least, as much as I am on the fence about it, I cannot wait until the movie comes out. Old news to most, but I can't stop thinking about it. Shameful, I know. My mom is not very proud that her daughter read all three books in less than 2 months.

There ya, go...six bits of random. That was kinda of fun. Maybe I should do it more often. Happy Wednesday!

Today, I have a style blogger I would like to introduce you to. Her name is Sherry and she blogs over at The Life of the Party
Sherry hosts a weekly link up called the Fashion Informant. You should definitely go over and add your current style post. If the kitchen is your safe haven, then take a peek at this yummy salad. I am such a sucker for easy, no mess meals and lunches. It looks dee-lish, right? If home decor is more your thing; I have fab news for you! The Life of the Party has your back on this one. I wish she lived closer to help with my living room situation....ah, loving the nature inspired pieces. And because Sherry's blog is full of all sorts of knowledge, I felt obliged to share her drug store cosmetic finds. Don't pretend like you don't hit up CVS or Walgreen's makeup section every time you go in to fill a prescription. I know I am guilty. Go visit The Life of the Party, she is definitely reaching out to all of us ladies. I know I am a fan!

**If you are linking up today, the only request is that you follow my blog with GFC or Bloglovin' and link back to it in your post. It's how weekly link ups work. Oh, and go meet some new friends!

Trend Watch Tuesday - Tweed

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7

One texture that has caught my eye and I plan to add to my closet this season is tweed.

Up until recently, I overlooked the woven fabric and how versatile it really can be. I think I had the mindset that it is was only for professional purposes, a bit stuffy and reminded me of Cher from Clueless (not that I haven't watched that movie hundred times).

Tweed never seemed to fit my style, until now. It all began when I randomly popped into Old Navy a couple of months ago and found a jacket on mega clearance. I decided it would be something different for the fall and would be fun with distressed denim and heels. So, I scooped it up and brought it home. Now I am just tapping my toes until it's cool enough to wear it.

After that purchase, I never turned back and all of a sudden I began to notice more pieces in stores, primarily blazers and cropped jackets.

Because this is a top trend for the fall, brands have expanded their tweed horizons and designed pieces that are functional, fashionable and go well beyond the houndstooth days.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a quilted tweed vest from Old Navy as well as a moto jacket for an unbelievable price at Target. With the regular sales that J.Crew Factory has been running, this pencil skirt is something I am hoping to add to my closet soon.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I have lately been a little obsessed with pairing leather and lace. But as soon as the temperatures drop, I believe that my lace will have a some serious competition and my leather is pretty excited about it.

Go Now

The dress I am wearing today came from the one and only Kiki La'Rue. Miss Becka outdid herself this go 'round. After a phone chat last Thursday night that led into the early morning hours, I received this little number plus a few others that I am so excited to show you.

Dress: Kiki La'Rue c/o // Vest: Old Navy (similar here and here) // Shoes: LuLu's // Bag: Sam Moon (similar here and here) // Necklace: KO Designs c/o

I am still not sure how Becka, Queen Kiki La'Rue, and I connected on a level past blogging, but I am thanking my falling stars that we did. Maybe it's a Texas thing or because we are both the kind of people that are "what you see is what you get". Not quite sure, but we click. Her business successes are in inspiration. I am so proud to call her my friend and to have had the pleasure of watching Kiki La'Rue grow into something unfathomable for most. She has a way about her, always keeping it real and reminds all of her clients that it doesn't matter what size you are, you can still own it, rock it and work it.

Now go visit her shop. New arrivals are coming in daily and I am PATIENTLY awaiting for my Everly dress that I have been stalking for weeks!

That's all I have. Happy weekend & shopping as long as you aren't in on the "No Spend in September" bandwagon. Pshhhhhh, I tried and got denied.

P.S. Can we talk about these heels/boots from LuLu's? What shall we call them? Are they boots or are they heels? Who cares! I love and lost sleep over them, until I finally clicked "Check Out" and made them mine. I predict that you guys will be seeing them over and over in the coming months. FYI, they only have TWO left! Go!!!

Work Wear & Wallis

Lately, I have gotten a few emails from friends and readers asking me to post ideas for styling work wear pieces. As most of you know, I work from home, so the majority of the styles I wear on my blog are more on the casual spectrum with dressier looks sprinkled here and there. On occasion, I will attend a business meeting or lunch and get the chance to put together something that I typically wore when I did report to the office.

 photo af83b82c-4086-4128-bd85-19dac6268722_zpsf3bb11bd.jpg photo 5b1046f9-a13d-4bc8-b4ac-7afb208faf8f_zps06cf05cd.jpg

I think since we all have different office environments, styles and dress codes, it's difficult to round up specific pieces that are essential to own for the Monday-Friday work week. So, I thought that once or possibly twice a month I will style a look that is functional, comfortable, affordable and stylish for all you ladies with an eight-to-five schedule. Most of know basic pieces we need to add to our closet for our professional life. It's the piecing them together part that can sometimes be challenging.

Until the next installment of "style ideas for work", I will leave you excited about the Fall/Winter W- A Limited Collection from Wallis that just launched.

I have been dying to share a few photos from the Wallis lookbook, not many people have had the opportunity to take a peek the newest collection from Wallis, so consider yourself a V.I.P.

I previewed most of the line while in London earlier this year and was blown away by the prints, fabrics, textures and colors. This line is going to have you stalking the Wallis website and more items will slowly be added over the next several weeks.

Most everything can be transitioned from day to night. Below are a few looks that immediately caught my eye for the office, happy hour after the 5 o'clock whistle or an evening out on the town. Enjoy and make sure to keep your eyes out. Everything you see below is available now or will be soon on the Wallis website.

So, what do you think? Pretty fabulous, right?
