Working Hard for the Money

We are half way through the week, my lovelies!  And what's even better...it's Leap Day!  Whoo-hoo!
I know most of us have at least two jobs {career and blogging}, but for me, add a few more to the list...mom, wife, housekeeper, chef {okay, maybe not so much}, laundry queen, personal chauffeur, appointment scheduler...need I go on?   I work hard for the money and the non-money too.

Somehow, for the most part, I always get things done. What can I say, I am a night owl who regrets it every morning when the alarm clock goes off.  Do you feel me?

This is my "day job" attire.  I don't think you would want to look at an outfit post of my "night job". Okay, no dirty minds..."night job" meaning at home - gym shorts, tank and $3.50 Old Navy flip flops.

Top:The Limited (old) | Skirt:Forever 21 | Shoes:Payless | Belt:Target | Clutch:Sam Moon
Ring & Earrings:Forever 21| Necklace: Custom TrashATX

Do these leopard wedges look familiar?  If not, let me refresh your memory {here}.
I have seriously gotten more wear out of these than most of the shoes in my closet.  And they have held up exceptionally well for getting them at Payless.  In case you want to grab a pair, they are on sale for $19.99.

Have you gotten something lately and been surprised at how much you have actually worn it?

Cheers to a day that only comes once every four year & to everyone working hard for the money!
Pat yourself on the back today!

Neon : It's not just a bar sign anymore

As we all know, neon hues are one of this Spring's hottest trends.  Up until a few months ago, I associated these brights with two things...the 80's and a beer logo behind a bar.  My, oh my, have times changed. Everywhere you turn, a pop of neon is in your face.  And I am loving it. I will love them even more once these Elmer's Glue legs of mine have a little more color on them.  We will all be looking fab!

It's time for a little Target Tuesday's with Tara @ Fabulous but Evil.  And look what I found at my little piece of Heaven {Yes, I believe there will be a Target in Heaven}...fun and electric colors that can be incorporated into all aspects of your life...rain or shine.  Oh my friends, this I why I love Target, one stop shopping for all my obessions and of course my essentials too!

Great to throw over your shoulder for Sunday brunch and mimosas

If I were going to prom, this is what I would totally be wearing!  How fun!

I will be scooping this up for upcoming April showers!

Love everything about this swim suit.  Poolside is just around the corner!

Towel Chair Covers!  Genius!

Just for fun...you will definitely turn some heads!

Love this pillow.  So bright and cheery!

Again, for April showers!

I can definitely use a few sets of these for our BBQs & Fish Fries.
20 piece set $15.99

I don't have a place for this, but I fell in love with it. So comfy!

Are you loving all the neon colors too?  If so, what's been your favorite purchase so far?  Mine is a necklace that is being made as we speak.  Can't wait to get it in the mail.  You all know how much I LOVE getting stuff in the mail!

Cheers to neon pink, neon yellow, neon orange, neon green and neon blue! Did I miss any?

My Weekend Recap

Monday has rolled around once again. Why does it come so quick? Well, I hope you enjoyed your two days off and are ready to take on another week.

My two day weekend turned out to be three.  I was sick on Friday and stayed in bed pretty much all day.  I think it's this bi-polar Texas weather.  One day it is 90 degrees outside and the next it's in the 50's.  I had to get better quick {insert Z-pak} because I had to head to the "Big D" {Dallas} to help throw a wedding shower for one of my college sorority sisters.  I had to make the most of spending time with some of my best friends in the whole world...no time for being sick.  We had the party at a fun and intimate winery called Times Ten Cellars.  I don't think drinking wine helped remedy my ickiness, but I put on my big girl panties and rolled with it!  I don't get too many opportunities to spend time with my best buds.  Everyone had an amazing time..lots of food, laughs, hugs and did I mention wine?

This was the chosen outfit of the day.  I have been searching for some cobalt blue wedges and I finally found a pair that I couldn't pass up.  I think I might be 6' tall in these high rises.  And believe it or not, they are actually really comfortable.  And my pants, well it's actually a romper that is gray on top.  I threw the top over it because it was a little chilly out.  I am looking forward to wearing it without the top when it warms up again, which I am sure will be tomorrow...crazy weather!

Sunday is Gold, Naked Statue Day!

It's that time again, My Friday's Fancies with {av} at {long distance loving}. This week we are glamming it up for The Oscar's on Sunday.

I don't know about you, but I only watch for the fashion.  I love to see what the celebs are wearing. I can't wait to see who rocks it and who tanks it. My favorite part about all these award shows is watching the Fashion Police on E! later in the week to see what Joan Rivers has to say. Do you watch it? It is FABULOUS and I seriously laugh out loud at that crazy broad's comments.  She is a HOT mess!

I am a little embarrassed to admit this, but I haven't seen any of the movies/actors that are nominated this year, except Bridesmaids.  I just don't seem to make it to the big screen lately or even the small screen for that matter.  So, I have no idea who is going to win or even who the front runners are....again, I watch the show strictly for fashion entertainment.

If I were a super-star actress, headed to the red carpet {which has always been my dream} you would see me strutting this.  It's simple, elegant and not over the top.  I am a firm believer that less is more.  And for the record, I am a bargain shopper, so putting this outfit together was so much fun...all my items add up to almost $7,000 G's!  What a way to live, right?!

Red Carpet Glam

Reese Witherspoon was the inspiration for my Red Carpet Glam.  I just love everything about her.
Her style is sophisticated, timeless and effortless.

So, which nominated movies have you seen?  Will you be watching on Sunday?  For me, it's a date with my couch, husband and popcorn!

Cheers to a gold, naked statue, the Joan Rivers after party and seeing who tanks it on Hollywood's biggest night!

I am also linking up the Blonde Episodes for Fashion Friday!!!  Check it out for some more inspiration.  Happy Weekend, my friends!

Mad at Mod Cloth

I am not normally a Debbie Downer on "the blog", but I felt obliged to rant a little bit about Mod Cloth.  I promise I will try to limit my grumpiness in this little place of peace going forward. I just couldn't help myself today.

So, a few weeks ago Mod Cloth posted on Facebook about a limited quantity "Grab Bag" promo.  I love their website and most of the products that they have to offer.  When I saw this, seemingly amazing offer, I jumped on it.

The deal was spend $20 and get $70 worth of merchandise.  Right there, I should have remembered the old saying, "If it's too good to be true, it probably is". My excitement over took my intelligence and I purchased the grab bag in matter of minutes of reading the Facebook post.

We all like surprises, right?  Most of us like Mod Cloth, right?  So, it seemed, at the time, like a win-win situation, right?  WRONG!!

My package arrived and I couldn't wait to see what $70 worth of stuff I got for $20.  I opened it as fast as I could, ripping and tearing the box in lightning speed.

Then I just froze, jaw dropped, eyes as big as quarters and with a big gulp....and said out loud, "SERIOUSLY"?!?  This is it?  This stuff looks like something from a freaking gumball machine or from The Dollar Tree.

So, here it is folks...this is what I got for $20 + shipping...looking back, after the anger passed, I actually can laugh about it now.  I mean, it is pretty comical!

Reusable tote (kind of cute), TIGHT blue camisole that hits my mid-thigh, neon yellow tube-top bra, Holly Hobby bow clip, peanut earrings and a flower headband
This is the UGLIEST bow and print I have ever seen! My little girls didn't even like it.  It looks like it's from Holly Hobby or Little House on the Prairie.
Gold earrings shaped like peanuts...I have to admit, I have actually worn these twice.  My friends laughed at me and asked, "Are those nuts on your ears?"
This is okay, but really not my style.  I will most likely never wear it.
Brand of the neon bra and the waaaaaay too long tank.  No, I will NOT "See You on Monday" or any other day of the week for that matter.  I know neon colors are the latest trend, but this?  Come on!

Okay, you tell me, did I expect too much?  I am being bratty?  Be honest.  And, yes, like I said before, I can laugh about it now.  It gave me something to blog about, right?

Cheers to NEVER participating in a "grab bag" promotion again!  Oh, the lessons we learn in life.

Round Two with Jason Wu

Okay, ladies here is another one of my Jason Wu for Target purchases.  In case you didn't already know, I was one of the crazies that got up early and was at Target when they opened.  I snagged this little dress and this one too {here}.

Oh, and if you thought your mind was playing tricks on you, it's not, I am a little darker in these pictures! And I am NOT wearing hose!!

I used a self tanner last night that I am loving, just need to work on my feet...kind of turned out Oompa-Loompa style! Regardless of my piggies, this is the best self-tanner I have found and it doesn't stink!!  It's called Xen-Tan and I got it at Ulta. Do you have one that you swear by?  I am tired of my Elmer's Glue legs, feet, arms, hands, elbows, neck, face, fingers, toes...you get the picture! I am ready for some "real" color!

Dress:Jason Wu for Target | Cardigan:Nordstrom | Shoes:Target | Bracelet & Ring:F21 | Necklace:Thrifted

Cheers to a real tan and of course Jason Wu for this fun and affordable clothing line!

Today I am linking up with these lovely ladies.  Hop over for some additional inspirations!

Product Review - Stila Brow Color

I love reading reviews on other blogs and websites to learn about products that I haven't tried or ones I have never even heard about.  As we all know, there are more cosmetic products than there are stars in the sky for us ladies to rummage through. It can be quite overwhelming.  So, I wanted to share with all of you a little goodie from my make-up bag.

In case you didn't read the title of this post my product winner is...
STILA Stay All Day Waterproof Brow Color.

This pen is absolute perfection and you will truly see a difference in your eyes. When I swooped this onto my brows, it was love at first sight.  It was time to say adios to my brow pencils.   The small brush-like pen is thin, so you can easily create small, wispy hair-like lines on your brows to achieve a defined, natural effect without looking like it's been "drawn in".  Stila offers two colors, light and medium for $21.

I snapped a few pictures to illustrate what my eye brows looked like before and after using the Stila Brow Color.

You can clearly see a difference between my "naked" brows and my "dressed" brows.  It's not super drastic, but I think it helps to fill them in and give some shape and contour. The color stays put all day and is water/sweat proof.

I don't have crazy, wild brows to tame, but I do finish them off with Ulta's Eye Brow Gel. It helps to keep them in place all-day, it dries quickly and isn't too goopy.  I know that Anastasia Beverly Hills makes a good brow gel too, but the Ulta one does the trick for me and it's only $7.

Cheers to giving our brows the love and attention they deserve!
